Locking your Windows 10 computer is the best way to secure your computer when you go away. This will not quit or interrupt any programs running, and you will need to enter your PIN or password to get past the lock screen. Here are ten ways to lock your computer.
Lock your computer in the Start menu
Not surprisingly, the Start menu offers an option to lock your computer. Just click the Start button (Windows icon), select your account name, and then click “Lock.”;
Use the Windows key
Almost every Windows computer has a Windows key on the keyboard. As you probably guessed, it’s the one with the Windows icon. You can press Windows + L to lock your computer.
Ctrl + Alt + Delete
The keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + Delete is often used to kill unresponsive software, but you can also use it to lock your computer. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and then click “Lock” in the menu that appears.
Lock your computer in Task Manager
You can also lock your computer in Task Manager. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, and then click “Task Manager.” You can also type “Task Manager” in the Windows search box and then select it in the search results.

If you prefer to lock your computer with just one click, you can create a desktop icon. To do so, right-click on the desktop, hold the mouse pointer over “New” and then select “Shortcut”.
In the “Create Shortcut” window that appears, type the following command in the “Write place for the object” text box, and then click “Next”:

Set it in the screen saver settings
You can set your computer to lock when the screen saver has been on for some time. To do so, type “Screensaver” in the Windows search box. Click “Change screen saver” in the search results.
In the “Screensaver Settings” menu, select the check box next to the “On Resume, Show Login Screen” option. Use the arrow buttons in the “Wait:” box to select the number of minutes before your computer locks, and then click “Apply”.
We do not recommend this method for safety reasons. It is always best to lock your computer before leaving it.
Use dynamic lock
Dynamic Lock is a feature that automatically locks your computer after you leave it. It does this by detecting the strength of the Bluetooth signal. When the signal drops, Windows assumes that you have left the immediate area of your computer and locks it for you.
To use Dynamic Lock, you must first pair your smartphone with your computer. To do this, go to Settings> Bluetooth (on both Android and iOS) and turn on the slider. Go to Settings> Devices> Bluetooth and other devices on your computer, then click “Add Bluetooth or other device.” Select your phone, confirm the PIN code and they are paired.
Now all that remains to be done is to activate the Dynamic Lock function. Go to Settings> Accounts> Login Options and scroll down to the “Dynamic Lock” section. Select the check box next to the “Allow Windows to automatically lock your device when you are away” option.
Your computer will now be locked if you move too far away.

Use the remote lock function
The remote lock function should only be used in the worst case. We always recommend that you lock your computer before leaving it. But we forget all things sometimes. If you have left your computer available, Microsoft has provided a way for you to lock it remotely.
However, this only works if you have enabled “Find My Device” on your computer, you have a Microsoft account on the device with administrator privileges, and the device is connected to the Internet.
To use the remote lock feature, sign in to your Microsoft account, then click “View Details” under the device you want to lock.
Then click on the “Find My Device” tab and then click on “Lock”.
Confirm in all messages displayed to stop locking your computer.
