The latest update to iOS 12 featured more emoji, Group FaceTime, eSIM functionality, real-time depth control for new iPhones, and some other interesting chats and fixes. Now, in the latest for iPhones, iOS 12.1.1, Apple retrieves some things removed or harder to access in previous updates, and it also has some new features to offer, albeit small. Right now, iOS 12.1.1 is in beta, so it's not official to everyone right now. However, you can be included in the beta version either as a developer or public beta tester if you want to try all new features listed below right now.
first FaceTime Live Photos Back
Apple removed the Live Photo option in FaceTime when iOS 12 came out – an odd feature because the feature was only added to iOS 11. It was probably only forgotten when Apple pressured to get Group FaceTime in the Rules of Procedure. Thankfully, Apple has taken back the Live Photo Shutter button in FaceTime, and it works just like it did before.
All you need to keep in mind is that you and someone else are on a FaceTime video chat that must be run either iOS 11 or iOS 12.1.1, not iOS 12.1 or 12.1, with "FaceTime Live Photos" enabled in the settings. Additionally, it does not work in Group FaceTime chats, so it's only for one-to-one video calling.
2. Flip Camera & Mute is Easy Again in FaceTime
Another odd thing in iOS 12 and iOS 12.1 version of FaceTime is the screen menu during a call. In IOS 11, your thumbnail was how you angry the camera view, and there was only one Live Photo shutter, end call button, and microphone button on screen. It is.
With iOS 12, Apple added effects to FaceTime and group chats, so a new hidden menu was created to accommodate everything. Unfortunately, flip camera and audio buttons ended up and the only on the call screen was a camera effect button, stop the ring button and the ellipse (•••) for the hidden menu as well as your thumbnail that was not angry on the camera anymore.
Now in iOS 12.1.1 now the visible buttons now contain camera effects and end the call as well as a dumb, flip and live photo buttons. Instead of the ellipse, swipe up the menu to see more options. Now, if Apple could have the buttons rotate when they were in the landscape, we would be fine.
3rd IP X R Has Another Haptic Touch Trick
Haptic Touch is quite a halfbacked version of 3D Touch on iPhone X R R R ] that simulates actions on a 3D touchscreen using haptics without having a pressure sensitive screen. The problem is that it only mimics the flashlight and camera icons on the lock screen, keyboard panel, "Delete All Messages" and Live Images option.
However, in iOS 12.1.1, the Haptic Touch also comes to messages so you can see them directly and interact with them. Now if Apple can also add support for Quick Actions, Peek, Pop, Live wallpapers and anything else 3D Touch can still do, the Haptic Touch can not.
Other improvements worth marking
Apple Release Notes only mention a new feature Right now: iOS 12.1.1 requires that the Public Layer Security (TLS) certificate, published after October 15, 2018, conform to the certificate's transparency policy to be evaluated as trusted on Apple's platforms. (41175212)
However, there are some other iOS 12.1.1 features that have come up, some just for iPads and another only for iPhone users with an Apple Watch.
- You can hide the "column when in the Apple News app on iPads via a switch."
- An updated Apple Watch app icon resembles the 4-watch clock.
- Some third-party apps have No longer blackfield on each side of the 11 "iPad model.
