From what we can tell, there are some easy ways to determine if an IV checker or calculator is illegal. The first is whether it is calculated or controlled. IV calculators use information from the game to make educated guesses about your Pokémon IV. Checkers, on the other hand, usually ping game servers for exact numbers and that is illegal. Also, our Pokémon Go login information is never calculated when illegal checks usually do. If you are unsure, just stick to the IV calculators on this list! Finally, not all IV calculators in the Play Store.
What is IVs?
IVs are basically Pokémon statistics. Each species has its own set of base statistics. For example, Snorlax generally has a higher HP base than a Bulbasaur. However, each Pokémon of a particular species has its own statistics compared to others like it. Thus, almost no two Snorlax and no two Bulbasaur are the same. IV statistics determine things like attack force, defense and endurance. These statistics mainly affect things like HP's growth and fighting ability.
In the usual Pokémon games, IVs are a huge deal. Pokémon Go, however, does not put much emphasis on them, probably for the sake of pleasure from the free audience. This does not mean that IVs are useless. The differences in a low IV Pokémon and a high IV Pokémon can be quite significant during the level process. In other words, it is good to have, but you will not have such a great advantage that it will be impossible for other players to beat you.
Calcy IV is among the two or three most popular Pokémon Go IV counters. It uses your current Pokemon CP, level, HP, and other metrics for its IV determination. It also supports almost all languages except traditional Chinese. It is not difficult to use. App screenshots then play and calculate IV from there. The game also features a Gym Badge Progress Reader, names and perfect counters for Raid managers. There is also information for weather buffers and other such things. It's good for IV calculation, but it also has several secondary uses. It's a good one for sure.
GoIV is another popular IV calculator. But this spent considerable time off the Play Store and recently returned. It is a free and open source solution with some decent features. It calculates IV as you expect. In addition, it tries to predict boot statistics, has a change function, and it can scan your Pokémon for export. It is definitely an excellent time saver and its IV calculations are usually quite reliable. This one has some bugs, but usually nothing serious and the developers continue with the latest new Pokémon. It is also free without ads and completely open source.
GamePress IV Calculator is a website with a manual IV- calculator. This means that you will enter all the data yourself and it will point out an IV range. You can add things like CP, HP, how much stardust to the next level up, whether it's hatched or successful and the statistics feedback you can get in the game. It uses this to calculate your IV with about 10-15% degree of accuracy. It is a bit boring because it is manual input rather than automatic input of other apps. But those who don't mind the gate can get good calculations from sites like this.
Poke Genie is another of the best two or three most popular Pokémon Go IV calculators. It uses information from the screen to stay over the board. It is completely legal. In addition, it has very good IV calculations. The app also contains some additional, deeper statin contexts. It can also tell you whether you can solo a raid or not and there is also a renunciation function. The scan history shows which Pokémon you previously scanned for future reference and there is a screen capture method if the device does not work well with screen overlays. Some have complained about data consumption and performance issues. Most people really seem to like this one.
Silph Road is a very popular site for Pokémon Go fans . It has news, a full on Pokédex, and information on various tasks, eggs, raids and social groups. There is also a basic but easy and efficient IV calculator. It uses your training level, current CP and HP to give you a very rough idea of your Pokémon's IV calculations. You can get more accurate results from other apps or websites. But this gives you a rough idea very quickly without an extra app. The developers also work with an advanced CP calculator, but it is not out than at the time of this writing. Enjoy!
