Unlike Apple Music, Spotify offers a free, ad-supported version of its service, which asks the question: Should you pay to listen? In addition to removing ads that interrupt your music-streaming enjoyment, there are six good reasons to punch up $ 10 per month for Spotify Premium.
No more shuffle-only mode
The biggest reason to upgrade if you use Spotify's mobile app on your phone is the ability to play any song you want. With the free version, you have to listen to the mix mode of your phone outside of 15 on-demand playlists. With Spotify Premium on your phone, you can, for example, end an evening with Poison's Every Rose has its Thorn and Motley Crue homewash without power ballads from Warrant, Whitesnake and Cinderella that are destroying right now.
(Spotify's free service does not limits you to the shuffle-only mode. It should be noted when using the desktop or tablet.)
You can skip as many songs when listening to a mixed selection of songs with Spotify's free service. With Premium, you can skip as many songs as you deem necessary.
Dual Bit Rate
Spotify Free lets you listen to normal (96 kilobits per second) or high quality (160 Kbps). Spotify Premium adds 320 Kbps Extreme quality, which allows better and more detailed audio output if you use advanced headphones or speakers.
Do you want to jump in the morning commute when you're connected to a subway car in a tunnel where there is no cell service? Spotify Premium lets youso you can listen when you're away from the internet or just want to reduce the use of data. And you can do it on up to five different devices.
To download an album, playlist or podcast, just press the Download Switch button. You see a small, green, downward arrow next to each song after it has been downloaded. Are you planning a long, internet free trip? You can download all the songs you have saved in your library at a touch of a button. Go to Your Library> Songs and press Download switch to retrieve all the songs in your library – or at least the first 10,000 of them.
No waiting for new releases
allows UMG artists to limit the release of a new album to Spotify Premium members for two weeks. Free users still have access to singles as soon as they fall but may have to wait two weeks before they listen to a new album in its entirety. UMG is the world's largest record label and includes artists such as Taylor Swift, Kayne West and Lady Gaga.
