Alexa has made some headlines to help the kids cheat on homework, but it can also be an honest tool for your child's intellectual enrichment. Check out some good ways Alexa can help kids become school-starred stars.
Alexa has the ability to assist with mathematical problems in addition to simple addition and subtraction – it can handle complex equations. Just ask, "Alexa, what's 1/8 times 2/9?" And it gives the right answer.
Activating skills that Smart Math can sharpen a student's mathematical knowledge. The special skill gives them 40 seconds to solve as many addition, subtraction, multiplication or sharing problems as they can.
Dictionary and thesaurus
As a child, I always had a dictionary on my desk. It drove me crazy not to know the meaning of a word. Alexa's dictionary would have saved me a lot of time and paper cuts. Now as an author I use Alexa thesaurus all the time to choose better words than I first thought of.
So, Alexa's dictionary and thesaurus should help any student to easily navigate a textbook or novel with ease. I think it will work best with a pupil in elementary school trying to create a vocabulary.
Just put, "Alexa, what does hospital" mean, and it will give you the definition of the word along with that part of the speech (sometimes). To get synonymous or antonym, just say, "Alexa, give me a synonym for the word" or "Alexa, what is an antonym for the word disturbed".
Learning a foreign language
On its own, Alexa only understands English, Spanish, German, Italian and Japanese, so whether other languages may not work.
The answers I get depends on my device. I asked Alexa something, "Alexa, say" Come with me right now "in Mandarin" and it gave me the right translation on my iPhone ($ 1000 on Amazon) Alexa app. On my Echo Dot ($ 30 on Amazon) it did not give me the translation. The Alexa app gave it to myself, and it translated many words from English that Echo Dot could not.
To work on Alexa's language skills limitations, use the third party's daily dosage. Just say, "Alexa, open the Daily Dose" to learn one or more of its 34 different languages. It will ask which language you want to learn. From there, just ask, "What languages are there?" And it will provide a comprehensive list.
Computer Science Help
When I was in high school, data classes consisted of learning Microsoft PowerPoint and Word. Today, young people learn advanced languages such as HTML and CSS. There are many Alexa skills that can enhance your child's computer science capabilities.
Here is a list of some computer quizzes and teaching instructions to help students download computer science:
I will admit that science was not my favorite subject. Therefore, I always have to come up with science projects at the last minute. But you don't have to.
I came across the busy hands of Amazon Echo ($ 90 on Amazon) . This skill guides you through the process of mounting a science project from the beginning.
It has five science projects that are just waiting to be unlocked by a student and rank them in difficulty. To get started, just say, "Alexa, open busy hands." Then, for example, say, "Alexa, what do I need to do slime?"
