You know how useful Alexa is around the house, but have you ever used your Echo or other Alexa-enabled device to help you do laundry? If not, you miss you.
Below you can check out several ways to use Alexa commands and skills to make the laundry easier.
If you can't hear when your washing machine or dryer is buzzing, Alexa will let you know.
First, you have to time how long each load takes in your machine. Rather than standing in front of the washing machine all the time, check the machine after half an hour or 45 minutes to get a general idea.
Then, enter the Alexa app and press the menu button (the three horizontal lines) and press routines. Press the plus sign to create a routine. With Alexa you can not only set a timer in routine, but there is an easy solution. In When this happens part of the routine, select Voice and then type what you want to say to Alexa to start the timer – something like "Alexa, start my washing machine timer." 19659011] Next, press Add Action and select Wait . Choose how much time it takes for the washing machine or dryer to complete the laundry. Finally, tap Add Action Alexa says and enter what you want Alexa to tell you when the time is up.
The next time you dispose of the laundry in the washing machine, start the routine by saying the trigger kit.
Get cleaning tips
Don't know how to clean anything? Enable the skills of the clothing buddy so you can ask Alexa. First, you have to say, "Alexa, open laundry buddy," every time you have a question. Then you just need to ask your question.
Unfortunately, the skill does not seem to respond to specific questions about spots. However, it will give you detailed answers on how to clean things like jeans, car seats and coats.
Although Laundry Buddy does not help with stains, the Tide Stain Remover FAQ skill. The skill has instructions on how to remove over 200 spots, including ink, juice and grass stains. Using the skill says something like, "Alexa, tell Tide, I have a coffee stain."
Check for Open Washer and Dryer
If you live in a dorm room, some universities offer Alexa skills that you can use to monitor the availability of open washers and dryers in the laundry room. Some of these skills include Illinois Laundry Checker, Laundry Check and Terp Laundry.
A quick search for "laundry" and your university's name in the skill search field should lead to the skills of your dormitory if available.
Skip the sniff test
Can't you remember the last time you washed your sheets or your favorite hoodie? Next time, Alexa has remembered for you using the Laundry Mate skill.
When you wash something, say, "Alexa, tell laundry detergent, I washed my (object) today." When you need a reminder question, "Alexa, when was the last time I washed my (item)."
