Always updated list of IOS App URL system names "iOS & iPhone :: Gadget Hacks

If you've ever customized your app icons or played with shortcuts (formerly called Workflow), you probably know how important the URLs are. Almost all iOS apps assign one of these names and you need to know them to add custom icons to your homepage or create a shortcut workflow that opens an app on your iPhone.

Find the URL order name, also known as a URI scheme, for a particular app is not easy. First, you need to download the IPA file for the app – a difficult task because the iTunes 12.7 update removed iOS apps from it. When you finally find the IPA, you need to convert it to a ZIP file, view the content of the app package, and then look for the specific PLIST file that contains the URL schema. It's a lot of work.

In this example, the URL schedules for VSCO are displayed in one of its PLIST files.

Right now, the easiest way to download IPA files is to use Apple Configurator 2. After logging in and connecting your iPhone, you can view and update apps that need it. All apps that you update this way are temporarily stored in an Apple Config folder in the "Group Reserves" folder of your user library. But it's still a lot of work and requires that the app you need has an update that you can apply.

If all you want to do is create a custom app icon or open the Netflix app from a workflow you're playing with, we'll try to make things as simple as possible for you by listing under any URL scheme names for apps we know right now. When we encounter them, we will not only include the "open" systems, but some links link to URLs to jump to specific tasks in an app.

Although the list below may seem small considering there are over 2 million apps in the App Store, it's a work in progress, and we continue to add it because we discover more URLs for popular apps and games on the iPhone.

URL schedules for popular iOS apps and services

All of them below without anything after: // are just arrangements for opening apps, while those with info after: // are for performing "deep link" specific actions within the app. Although all below include: // in them, most can be used with only: instead of with the // symbols.

Keep in mind that developers can change the URLs of their apps at any time. Apple did for some iOS services, such as links to specific settings that worked before iOS 11. Some URLs you can probably guess because very just uses their apps name as the system name. Try and wrong!

Something below what starts with fb *: // is Facebook deep links that should work if you have Facebook installed on your device. Since they do not always work as expected, we only included them in the list below if they did not have any other URL order name. Otherwise, fb *: // systems are omitted.

If you know URL schedule name or action for an app that is not here, let us know. We encourage support from our community to help us build this list!

It is also worth noting that Apple has been trying to track developers of URL systems because IOS 9.2 is beneficial for universal links, but URLs are not far from dead. And with Apple putting Workflow in its own shortcut app starting in iOS 12, an app that even has its own schedule, there's no reason to believe that URL systems are going away anytime soon.
