You do not always have to remember to tell Alexa to do something for you, especially if it̵7;s a command you execute every day at the same time, like checking the weather and reading out your schedule. That’s where come in. Routines can help get your day started by brewing your coffee, kicking off your morning meditation and reminding you to go all day. They can also turn off the lights when you leave the house, if you forget it.
Whether or not you have used the same routines on yourfor several years or just having started, it’s time to shake things up. For example, if Alexa wakes you up , we suggest another skill instead. Or if you have risen earlier than your alarm, you do not have to wait for your routines to start any longer – you can start them yourself.
Here are four Amazon Echo routines to change or set up now.
Use your voice to start your routine
You do not have to wait for your Amazon Echo to start your routines anymore. Instead, you can activate the routines with your voice if you wake up early and are ready for the lights to turn on or coffee to start brewing. Just say “Alexa, activate my good morning routine.” The same goes for all other routines for a typical time, such as afternoon exercise or bedtime if you can not keep your eyes open.
Wake up to more than news or music
Sure, a soothing song in the morning can help you get started on your day – or you can fall asleep again. Try something that stimulates your mind to help you wake up completely. For example, you can create a routine that starts the game Jeopardy! when you dismiss your alarm. Or you can try a meditation skill in the morning to get the gears turning when you turn off the alarm – just make sure no one is sending you back to bed.
To get started, open the Alexa app> press More > select Routines. From here, you can either create a new routine or change one that you have already created. Tap Add action > Competence > Your skills and choose the game or meditation ability you want to help you wake up.
Your Alexa routine may remind you to get up and move
If you work from home or have a desk, you can be so focused on your daily work that you forget to get up and move around all day. Take small breaks by creating a routine that enables a training ability, such as 7-minute training.
Or you can create a routine that reminds you to get up and stretch or do some jumps every hour. Unfortunately, you have to create a new routine for every hour.
Experiment with location-based routines
If you have smart lights, connectors or switches, you already know that you can control them with Alexa. The best way to do this is to set up location-based routines that turn off your smart devices when you leave the house, say get food, and turn on again when you return.
To set up location-based routines, create a new routine in the Alexa app and select under the When this happens section Place. Enter your home address and select Arriving or Leaf. Note that you must give the Alexa app permission to access your site. Then select Add action > Smart home > select your device> press Force and turn the power switch on or off. You need an action for every smart home device you have.
