This year you can order your holiday decorations, gifts, back accessories and Christmas tree from Amazon.
Yes, you read it right. Amazon sells genuine fresh 6- to 7-foot Christmas trees in the pursuit of being our one-stop shop for everything we would ever need.
This I had wondered – ordering a Christmas tree, invisibly, from a website a good idea? Is it worth it? Does the holiday suck out of the experience?
CNET received its first Amazon Christmas tree delivered to CNET Smart Home in San Francisco to find out.
What happens when it comes?
We received a long, heavy box released from FedEx. Our delivery person offered to bring the box upstairs and also required a signature for delivery. Expect you to be home to enter your Christmas tree.
We could smell the tree before we opened the box.
What is the quality of the wood?
Honestly, the tree is beautiful. We got a very fresh Fraser Fir that was still moist in many places when we took it out of the box.
Like all trees, there are some wonky branches and gaps, but overall we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it looked, especially after spending at least two days in a box.
How do I set up the tree?
Getting the tree out of the box and ready to set up is a messy process, so do it outdoors at all costs.
First, open the box and push the tree out. You are likely to have a lot of dead pinnacles, which is common.
Then you have to cut about an inch off the end of the tree so that it can absorb water when placing it in a tripod. The cut that was made when your tree was cut down will have closed a bit before it comes to you. We used a hand saw, but a chainsaw (which they use at tree trunks) would have been faster.
Finally, you must cut the yarn that holds the branches bound. Shake the tree to loosen some dead needles or broken branches, and gently fluff the branches so that they fall into place.
Then you can insert it and place it in a tree stand (which does not come with the tree).
What's in the box?
In the box is the tree, a sheet of care instructions, a removal bag and wood preservatives.
OK, so how much is a Christmas Eve in the Amazon?
All trees are sold under the brand name Hallmark Flowers. Each is between 6 and 7 meters long. There are four varieties to choose from:
Where are the trees from?
The trees come from farms in North Carolina and Michigan. We were celebrated from North Carolina.
How much does it cost?
All Amazon.com customers (both Prime and Non-Prime Members) receive free shipping on full-size Christmas.
When will I get my tree?
Tree begins delivery as of November 19, 2018. After ordering, Amazon says it takes one to two business days to process the order and then two to five days for shipping based on your location. Unfortunately, you can not send a tree to Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
Why does this do?
I do not buy a Christmas tree every year, but once I've done it, I thought about going to a tree party and picking out the perfect tree. What I did not like was to tie it to my car's car and drive home in the hope that it does not move.
Buying a Christmas tree from Amazon is not for everyone, and that's okay. While Amazon does not have a target customer in mind for these trees, it's me flatmates, those without cars and families who want to avoid the trouble of going to the tree party.
As said, do not overcome all the hassles by ordering the tree online. You are responsible for cutting the end of the tree, which is not easy if you do not have power tools.
Order a Christmas tree on Amazon will not replace going to a tree party anytime soon. Currently, it gives people a new, and most practical, alternative to getting a tree home.
