Amazon’s child-friendly service for smart speakers and tablets has long been known as Amazon FreeTime. However, it is not so descriptive, so Amazon̵7;s work with a new brand. Amazon FreeTime and FreeTime Unlimited will soon change to Amazon Kids and Kids +. And older children also get new content.
The name is just that, a new name that better describes what the service accomplishes. You get the same free and paid levels as before, and Amazon Kids and Kids + works on Alexa Smart Speakers, Fire Tablets and more.
But older kids also get some new content, including a new home screen on Fire Tablets. Amazon designed the new home screen to bridge the gap between young children and adults and give the tablet a more “adult” look.
Additionally, you can now enable notifications for Amazon Kids devices. So far, “Freetime” speakers and tablets have been banned from announcements. However, the change is opt-in, so you still have control.
Finally, Amazon is adding video titles of their choice for the six- to twelve-year-old range. Along with the videos comes a new music option for Amazon Kids – IHeartRadio Family. As with the previously unlimited offers, Amazon Kids is free for parents and an Amazon Kids + subscription starts at $ 2.99 per month. The changes will be launched in the coming months.
