The second wave of New horizons The summer updates are just around the corner, accompanied by a host of in-demand features. Get ready to create custom fireworks, visit random cities through your dreams and secure your data save in the cloud!

Dreaming is a familiar feature to anyone who played Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS. According to Nintendo, you can fall asleep in any bed in your house to visit Luna̵

7;s dream area. Luna lets you visit other islands through a dream, or share a dream version of your island with a dream address.

Everything that happens in the dream world is temporary and has no effect on your real island. In fact, you do not even have to be online for someone with a dream address to visit your island – think of it as a still image or a tour. A design kiosk is in the dream, probably to share custom designs with the guests.

Fireworks are shown every Sunday in August at 7pm. You can buy lottery tickets during the show to win exclusive items, or design custom fireworks to shoot into the sky. You can see some of the custom fireworks products and accessories in Nintendo’s Summer Update Wave 2 video.

But the most exciting part of this update is not fireworks or dreams. It saves clouds! Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can enable an “island security service”, which automatically uploads island saving data to the cloud if you break or drop your Nintendo Switch. But you have to call Nintendo customer service to retrieve your backup data, which is strange.

The upcoming summer update is available to everyone Animal Crossing: New Horizons players on July 30th. Dream features and cloud backup require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
