Epic and Apple are fighting for money, and the real losers are the players caught in the middle. All the more clear in Apple̵7;s latest move, as Epic admits that September 11th begins, it can no longer offer “Log in with Apple” as a secure way to access Epic accounts.
The gaming company announced the change today via Twitter and only put the blame on Apple. If you previously used “Sign in with Apple” for your Epic account, make sure your email address and password are up to date. Because after September 11, “Log in with Apple” no longer works.
Apple will no longer allow users to sign in to Epic Games accounts with “Sign in with Apple” as soon as September 11, 2020. If you used “Sign in with Apple”, make sure your email address and password are up to date. https://t.co/4XZX5g0eaf

To work through that process, Epic put together a help page with all the necessary steps. Essentially, you need to convert your Apple account to an Epic account, and you need to do so before September 11, so don’t wait.
The two companies are mainly fighting for money; Epic does not want to pay Apple’s 30% cut for in-app purchases. While Epic claims that they are fighting on behalf of smaller developers, the bigger truth is that a 30% cut is a significant change for the gaming giant.
Epic tried to circumvent the fee by adding his own payment option without Apple’s permission, and for his efforts he was fired from Apple’s app store. While a judge prevented Apple from harming Oreal engine, Epic’s games remain outside the store.
The latest move from Apple seems petty, even if Apple breaks the contract. After all, Apple’s Sign in with Apple ‘places a security and privacy feature, a “better than” similar offer from Google and Facebook.
It does not track you in the same way as the latter two do, so the promise is true to some extent. But if security and integrity play such a big role for the company, it’s a little encouraging to see Apple forcibly remove the protection from users caught in the middle of the battle.
