Avengers: Endgame: Trailers, release date, cast, plot and title meaning

At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, credits promised "Thanos will return." So Josh Brolin's purple, giant villain returns in April Avengers: Endgame, but who else? If you've seen Infinity War ( and much of you now have ), you know it's a bit of a mystery.

And a three-hour mystery according to the revelations by director Joe and Anthony Russo – so take your bathroom break before you sit down. One thing for sure: there won't be a break but it would be pretty cool if there was.

Here is the newest trailer

Thursday, March 1

4, Avengers: Endgame trailer came with some warning . And guess who's joining the gang? Captain Marvel, of course.

It is a flashback-filled trailer that shows Captain America dreaming of measuring up to World War II soldier level and also tips for the future, with the surviving Avengers who are probably preparing for something in white Star Wars Stormtrooper-like traits. (Space? The Quantum Realm?)

And here's a look at all Avengers footage that we have seen so far.

Behind the scenes

No real destroyers in this behind the scenes featurette that came out on March 26

In his endeavor to balance the universe, Thanos acquired all the infinite characters and zapped half the population of the universe, just as he threatened. Many of Marvel's great heroes were among the missing half of the population who were just kind of … turned into piles of sand which then blew away.

Avengers: Endgame trailer revealed

So Avengers: Endgame now has a great situation: No way are all the money-making Marvel heroes gone for good. But some of them probably have to bite the dust for quite dramatic reasons (and since some actors have [publicly spoken about] to move on ). We have to wait to see exactly who is taking early retirement, but at present we can summarize what we know.

What's it called?

There was much speculation about what the film would be called – for a long time it was simply known as Avengers 4, and many feared that the real title would be a giant, gut-wrenching spoiler. Endgame was mentioned early in the rumor, partly because Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) says it in Infinity War, untrue says Tony Stark, "We are in the end game now."

The term actually comes from the chess world, referring to the scene in the game where very few bits remain, making fine allegorical meaning. In Infinity War, Thanos and Avengers were matched in a giant chess game, and then Thanos pulled out what seems to be a checkmate.

But the game may not be over. Doctor Strange himself made a devastating victim, handing over the gemstone to Thanos, just as chess players can strategically sacrifice a piece to build on a possible victory. Now we are waiting for exactly how the playoffs will play out, and what victims will continue to do.

When will Avengers: Endgame come out?

Avengers 4 is scheduled for a April 26 release in the US, April 25 in the UK and April 24 in Australia.

The movie is the fourth in a series, so if you want to watch all three previous Avengers movies, check out 2012's Avengers, 2015 Avengers: Age of Ultron and 2018s Avengers: Infinity War . Ready with that? There are plenty of other Marvel movies to watch to enjoy the various hero's backstories. Here is our proposed order to check them out.

Remember to stay in your places after Infinity War stopped to look at the scene after credit? We break it down here, but it looks like Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) successfully sent a message to Captain Marvel, based on the symbol shown on what looks like Fury's pager. Brie Larson will play Captain Marvel in a solo movie which will come in March 2019, and since it is only a month or two before Avengers 4, it is expected to build some points.

Who's dead to stay?
  • Here is a list of who disappeared, melt-sand style, thanks to Thanos who eliminates half of the population:

    • Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan)
    • Drax (Dave Bautista)
    • Big (Vin Diesel)
    • Mantis (Pom Klementieff)
    • Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)
    • Spider Man (Tom Holland)
    • Peter Quill (Chris Pratt)
    • Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch)
    • Black Panther Bosman)
    • Falcon (Anthony Mackie)

Remaining to fight another day (as far as we know – we didn't see these heroes disappear) are:

    • Captain America (Chris Evans)
    • Iron Man ( Robert Downey Jr.
    • Thor (Chris Hemsworth)
    • Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)
    • Baku (Winston Duke)
    • Okoye (Danai Gurira)
    • Rocket (Bradley Cooper) 19659034 ] War Machine (Don Cheadle)
    • Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)
    • Nebula (Karen Gillan)

And while we didn't see Black Pa nther's sister Shuri (Letit Ia Wright), at the end of March, Marvel revealed a series of posters that showed vibrant characters in color and those that had been snapped in black and white. Shuri was shown in black and white. No real surprise, as she was also seen in a trailer for the movie when Bruce Banner looked at computer images of heroes who had disappeared.

The fate of Valkyries (Tessa Thompson) was also made clear by the posters – she was seen in a color image, so apparently survived.

    Shuri, noooo!

    Marvel Studios

Some of the lost heroes are likely to return, at least for a while. Marvel would not keep them all dead than letting an internal one hundred dollars in a paper shredder – too much money to lose.

Some we know will be back – Black Panther and Galaxy Guard have planned additional films, so T & # 39; Challa and Star-Lord do not go anywhere, but not all wakandans and guardians can do it through.

The future may not be so bright for the three big ones – Captain America, Iron Man and Thor. Chris Evans has said he continues after this movie and Downey and Hemsworth have also hinted at it. But we will not know until we know, and in addition Marvel is famous for restarting characters who have died / been frozen / hung up the uniform.

As infinite war clocks know, kill some characters – or seemed to be dead – before Thanos did his thing. Heimdall (Idris Elba), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are on a different level than the others, but death does not always mean forever in Marvel land.

Rocket Raccoon will be back, but how will he go without Groot?

And some signs are someone's guess. We didn't see the fate of M & # 39; Baku (Winston Duke) and Wong (Benedict Wong).

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), not seen in Infinity War, returns to Avengers: Endgame. Also, for almost a year now, there have been rumors that Hawkeye is taking on another super identity, that of masked ninja Ronin, one of Hawkeye's comic book identities. The trailer seems to confirm this, as Hawkeye looks to wear Ronin's armor.

And the death of Gamora may be different from those affected by the snap. A Reddit user is an exciting theory of Gamora's spirit captured in Soul Stone, a plot that has roots in the series. In this theory she would not be liberated in Avengers: Endgame, but in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This theory has bones – it would create a big task for GOTG3, because Star-Lord and crew would certainly fight against the last breath to get their team members back.

It is yet another juicy reputation for fans to chew on as the long wait for Avengers: Endgame continues.

    Meet the casting (we think)

With death, it is not likely that you say goodbye, here is who you can expect to see in the next movie.
