While the game was originally slated to be released last year, the wait has not dulled fans̵7; desire for a new one. Battletoads. Today, Rare announced that the first new entry in the much-loved beat-em-up series in more than two decades will be released on Xbox One and PC on August 20. To prove it, they released a game trailer that showed it.
Watch the sharp, angular 2D animation. Look at the fully expressed cuts. Look at all the brand that brand from the 1990s in your face – I reflexively eat my own shorts when I print this news.
The trailer showcases old-fashioned beat-em-up games with the series’ brand-name attacks and weapons, plus the return of the infamous hoverbike levels. Some more conventional platform parts also seem to be spliced there. A mix of 2D and 3D backgrounds will change as the level requires. Local three-player co-op will be activated for the entire game.
As if to embrace the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Ripoff energy Battletoads company took Rare to Twitter to resume a classic piece of internet humor, with the official GameStop Twitter account as an unwilling prop.
