Can yoga help you lose weight?

1; which feels like basically all the time thanks to COVID-19. I know that the time I breathe, stretch and try to clear my head will make me feel better than when I started. But when it comes to thinking best exercises for weight loss – I’m going to admit it Yoga usually do not remember.

While Weight Training, HIIT and cardio training everyone has great benefits for losing weight or burning fat, do not write off yoga as a way to help you reach your weight loss goals. Putting aside that yoga is a good workout, it is also good for your overall well-being, which can affect your weight. We know that stress can cause chaos to your health, which leads you to make bad decisions when it comes to food and sleep. Adds relaxing activities which helps you deal with stress in a healthy way, like yoga, can make a difference to your weight loss goals.

Yoga is what you do it: If you want a calm and relaxing workout, yoga can help. But if you want a workout that can get yours heart rate up, help you burn calories and build muscles – Yoga can do that too. Yoga can help you burn calories and build muscle

A common misconception about yoga is that it is not a “real” workout. While yoga has a reputation for helping to reduce stress and tension, some forms of yoga can be an intense workout that helps challenge your muscles and raise your heart rate.

“Yoga can be an incredible complement to a person’s quest to lose weight. From a physiological point of view, yoga is exercise, and certain types of yoga can have an excellent cardiovascular and strength building effect in the body,” says Turner.

If you are looking for yoga classes that can help you increase your heart rate to burn calories and help strengthen your muscles, watch out for specific types of yoga that focus on these areas.

Some examples include:

  • The yoga: Warm yoga classes are practiced in a heated room or in a studio. The actual temperature varies, but usually the room is heated to at least 90 degrees or more.
  • Power yoga: Power yoga is a fitness-based approach to practicing yoga. These classes will focus on strength and flexibility.
  • Sculpt: Yoga sculpture or any yoga class that contains “sculpt” in the description may vary in exact technique, but will often include light hand-held dumbbells or other tools to provide resistance. Some yoga sculpture lessons will also provide intensive cardio training.
  • Ashtanga: This style of yoga follows the same set of poses in the same order. The class is usually fast and physically challenging.

Restorative yoga practice also has a place in weight loss

Yoga can help you open, stretch and recover after intense workouts, which is also an important part of reaching your fitness goals and losing weight. “Even the less intense, more stretch-focused yoga practices can help promote active recovery if done to counteract a more strenuous other movement such as running or weightlifting,” says Turner. For yoga classes with a restorative approach, Turner recommends looking for lessons marked “deep stretch”, “restorative” or Hatha yoga.

Another, often overlooked, factor in weight loss is sleep and stress. Research shows that lack of quality sleep can sabotage your weight loss goals. Yoga can help you sleep better by helping you relax, reduce tension and keep stress at bay. Not to mention reducing stress and anxiety makes it easier to follow up on your healthy commitments.

“Yoga can have a profound effect on a person’s mental state by reducing stress and anxiety. Peace of mind can lead to better food and diet choices, which can obviously affect your success,” says Turner.
