Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are undoubtedly among the best Android phones so far. They contain highly specific specs, uncomplicated Android software and all the artificial intelligence that Google can pack. But these devices are not perfect. Since the launch of Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL, some issues have been cut ̵

1; those you may experience.

If you have encountered any Pixel 3 problems, we have compiled this guide to identify and manage the issues. Here's all you need to know about pixel 3 problems, and how to fix them.

Existing Problems and Problems

Error: Photos disappear

Pixel 3 has had a fair share of photography problems, which is unfortunate for a phone that topped our list of the best camera phones since it was released. The latest problem is that images simply disappear from people's albums. Several people have complained that they have taken photos overnight and looked at these pictures immediately afterwards, only to find that some pictures have simply disappeared. People have checked the trash, but not helpful.

This error seems to occur on both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, and one person has also had this problem on Android Q beta.

] Fix:

  • Unfortunately, there is no fix or solution at the moment. You just have to hold on and wait for a fix from Google.

Problem: Text messages disappear

Have you noticed that text messages on your Pixel device disappear? You're not going crazy. According to a report by Android Polis, the latest Pixel 3 security update causes some text messages to disappear on some devices.

Google confirmed the problem quickly and promised that an action would roll out soon. But it was back in November 2018, and it seems that people are still waiting, with a complaint coming in on December 31.

Fix:

  • Regularly check updates on your phone and install them when they arrive. Make sure you check Settings > System > System Update to make sure you are up to date.

Fixed issues and problems

Bug: Camera software slow to open

The Pixel 3 camera is incredible, but some people notice that the camera's app may take a while to boot. Starting the camera program on older pixels has always been a nice affair, so it was puzzling to see that it takes a few seconds to load on Pixel 3. We have confirmed this problem on our Pixel 3 XL, and it even goes to snap picture. If there is to be zero storage when you press the shutter button, we see that Pixel 3 takes up to four seconds to actually capture the photo. It's bad and frustrating. We reached out to Google.

"We have investigated some reports of camera inertia," said a spokesman Digital Trends. "We have an update for the camera that rolls out over the next few weeks that should improve performance."

Fix:

  • Mars patch should have fixed the problem. Make sure the device is up-to-date if the camera is still sluggish. System > System Update.

Error: Slow wireless charging marked as "Charging fast"

This is a problem that affects anyone who charges with a non-Google labeled wireless charger. Because of the weird way that Google has installed its wireless charging, it is not possible to access fast 10W wireless charging on a non-Google pad. Pixel 3 still shows a "Charge fast" message – even when charging at slower 5W speeds. It's not the biggest problem in the world, but it can be annoying if you don't know about it.

Solution:

  • The weird attitude to wireless charging aside, Google pulled out a fix in November patch, so if that bother you, make sure you're on the latest patch. System > System Update to make sure.

Error: Music app closes when you open the camera application

Some have reported that opening the camera folder while listening to music seems to cause the music app to close in the background and stop the music playback. This is another bug that seems to be related to memory management on Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. We were able to replicate the problem, both with Spotify and with Google's own YouTube music.

Since the problem seems to be related to memory management, it is very likely that we will see a software update that solves the problem in the near future. It is possible that the problem is actually the same as causing the images to not save – and that everything comes down to problems with Pixel 3, which does not handle its 4 GB memory well enough. While the fix was not included in the November Plaster for Pixel 3, it was included in December.

Solution:

  • Make sure you are completely up to date. To search for an update, go to Settings > System > System Update and make sure you have the latest version of Android.

Problem: Phone is locked to Verizon

Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are Verizon's exclusive phones, which means Verizon is the only operator in the United States that has the right to sell the phones. However, some owners have reported that Pixel 3 from Best Buy was also locked to the Verizon network, which meant that users could not buy the phone and activate it on another network. When the phone was activated on Verizon, it was then unlocked – which means you can only use it on another network.

It seems that Verizon at least temporarily unlocked Pixel 3 completely. The unlock was sent to Pixel 3 phones via a software update – so you should be able to configure the phone without a SIM card, update it and activate it on any network you choose.

Potential solution: [19659010] Set up the phone and check for a software update. To search for an update, go to Settings > System > System Update and make sure you have the latest version of Android. You should then be able to activate it on the network of your choice. Keep in mind that the problem comes mostly from Best Buy customers, if you bought the phone from Verizon, expect it to be locked again to Verin's network.

  • If you haven't bought the phone, buy it through the Google Store, which sells the phone completely unlocked.
  • Problem: Photos do not save

A number of users have reported that after taking a photo with the camera's app, these images are not saved, which means that the image may be gone forever. It's a pretty big problem, and one that seems to be quite widespread too – a number of users on Reddit have reported that it is getting into it. The problem looks especially when you take a photo with the Google Camera app, then switch to another app or lock the phone immediately after you take the photo. In some situations, the image will eventually appear again in the gallery, but it doesn't seem to happen all the time.

The problem seems to be related to how Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL handle the memory and end before the HDR processing is completed. Thankfully, this means that it can be solved with a software update. It wasn't in November's patch, which was a shame, but it was probably fixed in December.

    Solution:

    • Update to the latest version of Android. To search for an update, go to Settings > System > System Update and make sure you have the latest version of Android.

We'll update this article when we hear more about Google Pixel 3 issues and how to fix them.
