Daytona 500 is stock car racing this year's largest, most famous competition – and it shows how different NASCAR is than any other sports league. For everyone else, the big championship season ends – whether it's the NFL and the Super Bowl, the baseball and the World Series or the cornhole and the ACO World Cup. (Golf is the rare exception with the champions coming early in the second week of April.) NASCAR is the only sport I can think of that begins a season with its most important event.
Start time: The race is scheduled to start at 02:30 ET (11:30 pm PT) today, Sunday, February 17th. The coverage started at Fox at 1 pm ET (10 pm PT).
