We hardly need to “buy” anything today because games, music, books, news, movies and TV are all available on the iPhone with different monthly subscriptions. Just set it and forget it so that your wallet does everything for you. But if you are on a free trial period or two and do not want to commit, you can get an unexpected fee if you forgot or do not know where to cancel. How to avoid it.
On the iPhone, there are actually a lot of ways to verify subscriptions you have, for free or paid, that you have made from any of your connected Apple devices with your Apple ID. Apple Arcade, Apple News +, Apple Music, and Apple TV +, along with any Apple TV add-ons or third-party services, will all appear in one place.
You can access the same subscription management page from apps like Books, Music, and the iTunes Store, but because every second counts when it comes to canceling a current sub, the fastest routes are from Settings, the App Store, and the TV app.
- Settings: Apple ID -> Subscriptions
- App Store: Profile icon (from today, games, apps or arcade) -> Subscriptions
- TV: Profile Icon (from Watch Now) -> Manage Subscriptions
Once on Subscriptions page you will see all renewals associated with your Apple ID, both active and expired. To cancel one, just tap it below Active, tap “Cancel free trial” or “Cancel subscription” and then “Confirm” in the popup window.
Just remember – these are just your Apple ID subscriptions. You can have others floating around from other accounts, even for apps on your iPhone. If you think you are subscribing to something you do not see in the list, check out the app yourself. GrubHub, DoorDash, Netflix and Hulu are just a few examples of those you may not see connected to your Apple ID.
