You can still claim your $ 500 payment for each maintenance person under the age of 17 if you have not yet received it – it should have been part of your stimulus control, described in CARES Act passed in March. The IRS recently launched an online tool to help you correct this error.

You now have until the end of September to use the IRS ‘non-filing tool to send information about your relatives and receive a payment. According to the IRS, payments will be issued in mid-October. If you do not submit by the September deadline, you must wait until 2021 to claim your incentive payment for eligible persons. The IRS also indicates that you should not use the tool yet if you plan to file a tax return for 2019 (for example, if you submitted an extension on October 15), as it will slow down the process.

Discussions about a second stimulus control is still going on, and many assume that Republican and Democratic leaders can come to one agreement on the next coronavirus help counting.

The CARES Act provides for compensation of $ 500 per child dependency in addition to the $ 1200 ceiling for single filers and up to $ 2400 for couples applying jointly. (We have calculated how much money you might be able to get if rules on relatives are changed for a second stimulus control.)

This is how the IRS defines child dependence – there may be specific details you want to explore if your child dependence is adopted, disabled (of all ages) or a citizen of another country.
