I am a (very) amateur woodworker. I̵7;m also a (very) amateur player. Imagine my joy when I discovered Träarbetssimulator from the same developer who brought us PC Building Simulator, the game where you run a PC repair shot. The best part? Träarbetssimulator is a free beta right now, so why not download it?
Not surprisingly, as a beta Träarbetssimulator is not complete yet. While PC Building Simulator have you run a full store, bought parts, completed repairs and made business decisions, you will find nothing to that level in Träarbetssimulator.
Instead, you just build things, mostly with the help of hand tools. You have access to a base saw, bit bar (a hand drill), a plane, chisel, wood glue, lathe and paint and paint. You can choose from several modes, including three challenge modes for creating a specific object (like a birdhouse), and a free mode where you can build whatever you imagine.
The game is a bit buggy, I had trouble collecting tools the specific way I wanted, but it’s very playable. The biggest frustration is the bit support, because I have a hard time getting the right direction. But in a couple of hours, I learned to use all the tools in the game and built a birdhouse. I even used a lathe to create a round stand for the birdhouse, a tool I have not used in real life.
We’re not sure when Träarbetssimulator will leave the beta, The Irregular Corporation debuted a year ago. But you can download it for free on Steam and itch.io, so even if it never gets any new features, you can at least appreciate the game for what it has without having to spend a dime.
