Of many accounts, negotiations on another stimulus package is in trouble. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s intention to have a bill ended Aug. 7 is now a fantasy, as talks between Republicans and Democrats barely creep in, based on the total price of the bill.

There is still hope that formal negotiations will resume and a bill will be approved before November 3 election, but others on Capitol Hill are not shy about sending doubt. Funding to help the US Postal Service manage the election period
