Fortnite’s season 4 week 6 challenges are ready to go and for the most part they can be completed relatively quickly. However, one of the trickier ones requires you to consume a legendary fish – which is not the easiest process. There are a few steps you must take before you can catch a legendary fish, so if you are stubborn, this guide will surely be useful to you. Below we show you how to get a Pro fishing rod that is needed for the catch, how to catch the right type of fish, and we even throw in some tips and strategies to make it smoother for you.
How to consume a legendary fish in Fortnite.
How to get a Pro fishing rod
The first thing you need to do to catch a legendary fish is to grab a Pro fishing rod. These rods play all over the world, but they are rare. We’ve been lucky enough to find Pro fishing rods in Craggy Cliffs, so you should drop by as soon as the match begins your hunt. To find a Pro fishing rod, you want to look into the barrels found in this area and with a little luck you can find one that has what you are looking for. The barrels will always play ordinary fishing rods and are all inside the buildings at Craggy Cliffs.
If you are lucky, you will not come across a Pro fishing rod, but it is not as bad as it seems. You can upgrade a regular fishing rod to the Pro version at the upgrade station on the north side of Craggy Cliffs. When searching the buildings for a Pro fishing rod, make sure you smash all the walls and floors to collect materials, if you have to use the upgrade station instead. You need 100 of wood, stone and metal to upgrade your fishing rod.
But you take your hands on the Pro fishing rod, run over to the beach in the north to start fishing.
How to catch a legendary fish
Now that you know how to grab the Pro fishing rod, you are ready to start fishing! You can fish in many places around the map, but the closest is the beach at Craggy Cliffs (assuming this is where you landed). Stand right on the water and throw your rod into the sea and make sure it ends up in the fish groups nearby. With your rod in the water, wait for the sound of a splash (and steering vibration) before rolling the line again.
Keep in mind that the legendary fish has a low drip rate and it can take a while to appear. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to increase your play rate, so keep going until you finally get one. Here is a video on how we make the catch, with very little time to save before the gas swallowed us.
You know you have the right fish if it has an orange label with five stars – which indicates that it is actually legendary. We caught a thermal fish, which has some interesting side effects when consumed. The last step after catching the fish is to consume it, so pick it up and chow down! Once you have done that, you will complete the challenge and win 25,000 XP.
Keep in mind that you can try this elsewhere – we only prefer Craggy Cliffs because it has everything you need to complete the challenge in a condensed area. When you play regularly, you may encounter a Pro fishing rod and if you do, you may want to consider staying by the water to take on the challenge. Otherwise you want to try as we have described above.
