Ghush of Tsushima: tips and tricks you need to know

Ghush of Tsushima is another AAA, open-world adventure, and while it assumes many tropes we’ve seen in previous open-world RPGs, it changes the formula in some ways as well. From Guiding Wind to the lack of a locking system, Ghush of Tsushima is not just the same game with a different theme. Let the wind guide you

Ghush of TsushimaThe big innovation in the form of an open world is of course Guiding Wind. Instead of waypoint markers or a mini-map, the wind will lead you to a destination you specify on the entire map. However, that is not all the wind can do. Out of the gate you can set the wind to track undiscovered collectibles, that is, records, artifacts, banners and singing crickets. You can also invest some of your points in tracking other gathering places such as fox dens and hot springs.

Even if you do not have a specific goal, it is best to set the wind so that you are heading for a journey far away that you eventually want to do. As long as you have Travelers Attire equipped, you will remove a good chunk of Fog of War as you go, revealing undiscovered places and points of interest on your map. Basically, if you do not know what to do next Ghush of Tsushima, set the wind in a direction you have not explored and start riding. You will surely stumble across something.

Let nature guide you

Wind is not the only guiding force in Ghush of Tsushima. As you travel, you will come across large yellow birds that will fly down in front of you. Follow them. Yellow birds lead you to bamboo strikes, honorary players, shrines, hot springs and almost every other interesting place on the map. Follow the wind first, but if you see a yellow bird, it is always a good idea to break the course and see what they are aiming at you.

Although yellow birds are the most important way to find interesting areas on the island of Tsushima, there are other clues from nature that you should pay attention to. Fireflies, for example, will be around fox rods, while butterflies will hang around haiku spots. In short, if you see something that stands out in the environment, you should investigate it.

Balance your Loose

Even if the wind navigation is Ghush of Tsushima is a prominent feature, it is not the only innovation in the game. Instead of endurance, you have a Resolve meter. You can use Resolve for a few different things, including the powerful, unblockable Heavenly Strike attack. But in most cases, you use Loose to heal, similar to the Focus bar in Marvel’s Spider-Man. The important thing to remember is that your Solution is not passively filled. You have to earn it back.

There are two main ways to earn Solution: Parrying attacks and killing enemies. If you’re about to go into a big fight, but you need a big boost for your loose quickly, this is where standoffs come in. If you successfully defeat your opponent for a distance, you will earn all your Loose back, giving you a lot to work on for the rest of your battle.

Stop their suffering

This is a small tip but an important one. When you take down lots of enemies, some, deeply wounded, will begin to crawl away. If you go up to them, you will see a button message that “stops suffering.” Brutal as it is, you should always quit your job. Defeating an enemy this way will give you a full bar of Loose, and in some battles you have a handful of enemies waiting to see the other side. Running around the battlefield and taking out the stragglers is a quick and easy way to earn back all the solutions used.

A suit for every occasion

There are 11 armor sets in Ghush of Tsushima, and each set offers more than just a cosmetic difference. You immediately have access to Broken Armor and Travelers Attire. The Broken Armor is, yes, broken and is basically useless as such. Travelers Attire is more useful, so you can track collectibles with Guiding Wind as described in our first tip. It will also send some pulses through your controller when you are near a collector’s item.

You will earn other armor sets throughout the story, although the majority of them come from Mythic Tales. However, you can get Samurai Clan Armor right away, and you should. During the main search “The Tale of Lady Masako” you must travel to the Golden Temple in the first region. While you are there, talk to the armor and they will give you Samurai Clan Armor for free. This is basically the best overall armor set in the game, reducing all your incoming damage, offering a boost to your health and providing additional Loose when you take damage.

You can change armor sets, even when you are in a duel. We recommend that you use Travelers’ attire when exploring to remove the fog of war and discover secrets. However, when it’s time for battle, switch to Samurai Clan Armor, at least until you unlock some of the more specialized sets later in the game.

Change positions to break their defense

There are four positions in Ghush of Tsushima: Rock, water, wind and moon. Each of these positions is effective against a particular enemy, of which they are swordsmen, protectors, spearmen, and brutes, respectively. By default, you have access to the Stone setting, which is enough to get you through the first hours of the game (we cover how to unlock the other punches quickly in an instant).

Scaffolding is more than just a gimmick. Fight in Ghush of Tsushima based on breaking the defenses of your enemy and leaving them open to direct strikes. During bullying attacks, change your attitude towards which enemy you are facing, break their defenses and start hacking away. When it comes to Brutes and Spearmen, especially using the right stance is the difference between winning and losing.

Stealth that no one is looking at

Stealth is extremely powerful in Ghush of Tsushima. Honestly, AI is just not that smart. You can usually work your way around a Mongolian camp with little fuss as long as you are not spinning between enemies. Most Mongolian warriors are more than content staring at a wall as you run up behind them and cut at the back of your knees. Although Ghush of Tsushima is much more fun when you face your enemies directly as the honored samurai you are, stealth is a much easier strategy. If you have difficulty in a certain area, you can try to take out some enemies with stealth. You can get away with much more than you might think.

Beat at least the first mission

After a rather long prologue, it is tempting to dive primarily into liberating camps and deal with side shifts once you have loosened up on the island of Tsushima. However, you should complete the first main story mission before doing anything else. “The Warrior’s Code” serves as an extended tutorial in many ways. In addition to giving you a huge boost to your Legend, this mission also teaches you how to kill enemies and, more importantly, how to track them with focused hearing.

You earn various new abilities and gadgets as you travel to the top of Tsushima, but you do not need them right away. Focused hearing, which allows you to move at a slower pace and detect enemies within range, is crucial. Although we recommend that you handle page content early and often – we’ll get to that in a moment – you should play through “The Warrior’s Code” first.

Do not play it for sure

Ghush of Tsushima is not Dark souls, but it is not either Ninja Gaiden. Fits with the samurai theme, fighting is about balancing crime and defense. If you hide behind a block and avoid only when necessary, you will rarely find a window to land an attack on your opponent. On the other hand, if you approach a lot of enemies with your katana swinging as if you are invincible, the Mongolian warriors will quickly prove that you are otherwise.

It’s about balance. Ghush of TsushimaThe combat system is a bit strange, so much so that it takes a dozen hours in the game to get it. Once you understand the dance, however, there is nothing that it likes. The key is to identify when it’s time to change positions. When an enemy attacks, avoid and block, and when you have a chance, land a heavy strike or two. Repeat this process until you have stunned your enemy and then move in for a complete assault. Once you have mastered the combat system, you will parry, avoid and strike as you have done for several years.

Talk to everyone

Ghush of Tsushima has very little in the way of fillers. Unlike many other open-world RPGs, it’s not just building the world to talk to NPCs. As you work your way through survival camps and cities, you see NPCs with speech bubbles. Always talk to them. They generally give you a little reputation, which will mark a new place on your map. This is how Ghush of Tsushima assigns assignments that are not part of a multistep assignment. Even if you do not plan to deal with the side search from time to time, it is a good idea to at least mark it on your map so that you do not have to search the island for NPCs who are willing to talk to you later.

Make page content early and often

Ghush of Tsushima is about 50 hours long, but only 15-20 hours of this is devoted to the main story’s mission. There is a lot of side content, and it’s not just there to extend driving time. Side content, whether in the form of Mythic Tales or hot springs, is where you will earn some of the most important upgrades and abilities in the game, so you want to tackle the page content as early as possible to make the rest of the game easier.

Previously, for example, you have access to “The Heavenly Strike” Mythic Tale, which rewards you with the unblockable and extremely powerful Heavenly Strike ability. Similarly, fox sleeves lock new charm spots on your katana, while hot springs increase your maximum health. Everything in Ghush of Tsushima works to make Jin stronger in one way or another, and the game expects you to deal with some of the page content as you go. If you are struggling with a mission, take a break and seek out some interesting points before lowering the difficulty level.

Observe and then kill

As mentioned above, there are four positions in Ghush of Tsushima, even if you only have access to one at the beginning. To unlock the other steps, you must defeat the Mongol leaders. You can find Mongolian leaders in camp, and when you take one out you will earn one point against your next stance. However, you can double your points by observing the leader before you take them out.

When you reach a Mongolian camp, you have a couple of main goals and a bonus goal that gives you more legends. Sometimes the bonus goal reads “observe or kill the Mongolian leader.” You do not have to choose! If you see this target, stealth you around the camp until you find the Mongolian leader, and when you have a view of them and the prompt appears, hold down R2. Observing a Mongolian leader gives you a point against your next setting, but it also kills them, allowing you to earn double points and quickly unlock any position in the game.

Bow to show respect

If you swipe down on the touch pad, Jin will bend for a brief moment. On the surface, this is just a position you can use in photo mode for some cute pictures. But it is also a way to unlock Easter eggs. If you see something interesting, try to bow in front of it. You are not guaranteed to find something new, but in the few cases where there is something new, it is extremely satisfying. In addition, there is a trophy to bow in front of each hidden altar.
