If you own a Nest Camera, you only get the most useful features by subscribing to Nest Aware. But you had to buy a separate subscription for each camera, even the Nest Hello doorbell. It adds up quickly, even on the cheapest $ 5 per month plan. Nest Aware's new pricing covers all your cameras in a subscription. But the cheapest plan loses around the clock round the clock.
Old Versus New
As for the old Nest Aware plan, your Nest cameras recorded everything all day and not just event videos. How much you paid decided how far back you could go in your story. For $ 5 a month, you have five days of recordings. You can go up to $ 30 a month to watch 30 days of store video. Anyway you went, you had access to recordings around the clock.
But again, that pricing was per camera, including the Nest Hello doorbell. If you only have a Nest camera, it may seem good. But if you own a Nest Hello, a Nest indoor camera and a Nest Outdoor camera, it suddenly became a lot more expensive.
Now Google's new subscription for Nest Aware covers your entire home. You have two choices, $ 6 per month or $ 12 per month. Either covers every Nest camera you own, but the $ 6 plan doesn't include round-the-clock recording.
Instead, you get 30 days of "event video history." This means that you will only watch a video when an event, such as an audio or personal discovery, triggers. If you want to record around the clock, you must raise up to $ 12 per month plan, giving you 60 days of event video history and ten days of 24-hour history. It's less history than old Nest Awar & # 39; s most expensive plan, but it also costs less than half as much.
There is still good news if you are currently subscribing to a $ 5 / month option with 24/7 video storage (or any other previous Nest Aware plan). Google says you can follow your plan (at least until the company changes). However, you can't add any cameras to Nest Aware without first migrating to a Google Account (if you haven't already) and switching to the new Nest Aware plans.
As long as your plan doesn't need to be changed, you're good. But as soon as you add another Nest camera to your mix, you have a decision to make. Sometimes it makes it easier to make it easier, and this is one of those cases.
