Find yourself in a situation where your headphone jack doesn't work, like the recent LG V60? Problems with the headphone jack on smartphones are not as uncommon as you might think. It happens to many users and can be extremely frustrating, especially for those who regularly listen to music, etc.

This post will guide you through five fixes that hopefully solve the problem you are experiencing. Let's get started without any further delays.

first Make sure your headphones are not broken

The first step when you find that the headphone jack is not working is obvious. It is quite possible that there is actually nothing wrong with the headphone jack and that the headphones are the problem. You can check these out quickly just by connecting them to another device. This does not necessarily have to be a smartphone. A laptop, TV or any other device that has the 3.5mm jack on board will do.

If you do not hear any sound when using your headphones with another device, you have found the source of the problem. Just replace your headphones and you're good to go. If they work well with another device, something else is to blame. Time to try one of the other fixes listed below.

We also recommend that you connect another pair of headphones to your smartphone before moving forward. Although rare, there is still a chance that your original pair may not be compatible with your smartphone, even if they work with other devices.

Check if your smartphone is connected to another device via Bluetooth

If your smartphone is paired with wireless headphones, a speaker or any other device via Bluetooth, the headphone jack may be disabled. headphones, the smartphone should recognize them and everything should work as intended regardless of Bluetooth settings, however this is not necessarily always the case.

It is a quick and easy solution, look for m all you need to do is open the settings menu on your device, find the Bluetooth option and check if it's on. In that case, the smartphone is probably paired with one of the other devices you have in your house. If that is the problem, just turn it off, plug in your headphones and see if it solves it. If they still do not work, move on to the next solution on this list.

3rd Clean the headphone jack

As you can imagine, a lot of dust and lint can get into the headphone jack over time. This can only be the cause of the problem, as dirt can actually block the connection between the headphones and the socket.

The first thing you should do if your headphone jack doesn't work is to just look into the jack to see how dirty it really is. A flashlight may come in handy for this. The next step is to try to clean it and hope it solves the problem. There are many ways to do this, some of which work better than others. An alternative is simply to blow into the headphone jack, which should take care of at least some of the dust and fluff that is inside. You can also use a can of compressed air if you have one nearby.

A good alternative is to use a cotton swab. Push it into the jacket and swirl around it a bit to get out dust and lint. Be very careful when doing this, as the last thing you want to do is damage the unit more. You can also dampen the cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, but just make sure you don't use too much of it.

When you're done, look into the headphone jack again to see how much dust and lint you could get out. If things look better, plug in your headphones to check if everything is working properly.

4th Check audio settings and restart the unit

There is also a chance that the problem is not with the jack or headphones you are using but is related to the unit's audio settings. If so, you can sort it in no time. Just open the audio settings on your device and check the volume level and other settings that can mute the sound.

Normally, there are not many settings like these on a smartphone, so you should find problems more or less directly. If there is one, that is.

If everything seems to be in order, but your headphone jack is not working, there is another simple solution that you can try that restarts your device. This can sometimes solve lots of different smartphone related problems and it takes less than a minute to do. Simply hold down the power switch, select the restart option, wait for the unit to turn on, and then check if the problem still persists.

5th Time to call the repairman

If none of the fixes listed above works, it means the problem is not as small as hoped. If your device is still under warranty, the best thing to do is simply contact your dealer or manufacturer. Explain the problem to the company and submit it for repair or replacement. It may take some time in some cases, but at least it is free.

If the warranty has expired, you have telephone insurance. Just make a claim with your supplier.

The third solution is definitely the worst. You may need to have the unit repaired by the manufacturer or someone else who knows what he or she is doing. You need to open your wallet and pay to fix it, but at least you can use the headphone jack again. Otherwise, you can only select a pair of Bluetooth wireless headphones, which will also solve the problem. Well.

These are some of the fixes that we hope will help you take care of an incorrect headphone jack on your smartphone. If you think we missed something, let us know in the comments. Feel free to share which of the solutions listed above – if any – worked best for you.
