How do you present Apps & Games to Android users? Android :: Gadget Hacks

The iTunes App Store makes it easy to buy an app or game on behalf of others, and it's a great way to send an iPhone user a thoughtful gift. The Google Play Store has no such functionality, but there are still some solutions to achieve the same goal: Introducing an app to an Android user.

Nobody is perfect, but I describe some different methods like Let you buy an app for someone else. You can either buy them a Google Play gift card, send them money via Gmail with Google Pay, or add them to your family library in Google Play. Then just buy the app from your own account. Depending on who you buy for, one of these methods works best for you.

Method 1
: Add the App to Your Family Library

The best way to buy an Android app to someone else is to add it to your family library in Google Play. Basically, you buy the app with your own account, then the recipient can download the app as if they paid for it.

However, there is a disadvantage of this method. You must add the recipient to your family library in Google Play, which is ideal for families, but not a perfect solution if you're talking about an app to a friend. The biggest problem is that the members of your Google Play family will have access to your payment method, which means they will be able to purchase apps and other Google Play items with your credit card in the future.

But if it's ok with you, start by opening the Play Store app on your Android phone. Open the page navigation menu (hamburger icon at the top left), scroll down and select "Account". From there, select "Family" and then tap "Register for Family Library." If you're on a computer, you can do it from Google's website .

From there, press "Register" and then press "Continue" twice. You will now be asked to enter a payment method for your family account, then select "Configure" and then enter your credit or debit card number. Keep in mind that other people in your Google Play family will be able to use this card to make purchases on the Play Store.

Now you get the chance to add your existing app and game purchases to your family library – this is not the app you're "gifting" necessarily, you can buy it later. However, if you want the recipient to have access to the apps you've purchased before, press "Continue" then select "Add all eligible purchases now" and click "Continue" again.

At this time, you must add the person you add an app to the Google Play family. Select "Continue" and then tap the person's name in your contact list to select them. You can choose up to five people to add to your Google Play family, but once you've chosen everyone, make sure you tap "Submit."

At this time, the person or people you created for your Google Play family will receive an email . All they need to do is click "Accept invitation" and sign in with their Google Account and follow the instructions on the following page.

Right now you may think this is more trouble than it's worth but it's getting much easier now and forwards. If you want to give an app or game to someone in your Google Play family from now on, all you need to do is to purchase the app on your own device. To surprise them, press the share button on the app's Play Store page and send them a link. At the end they can install the app as if they already paid for it!

There are some precautions here. First, purchase in the app is not transferred to the Google Play Family Library. Secondly, not all apps are eligible for family libraries, even though the vast majority are. To verify the recipient, you can install an app you want to purchase for them, open their Play Store page and press "Read More" under the description. Scroll down and look for "Qualified for Family Library" – if you see this you can buy the app and know that the recipient will be able to download it on their device for free.

The amazing thing about the Google Play Family Library is that it works for more than just apps and games. Movies, Books, Music, YouTube Premium, and YouTube TV subscriptions and other non-hardware purchases from Google Play are eligible to share almost all of your digital purchases!

Method 2: Send Google Payment via Gmail [19659005] An easier single way to buy someone an app is to just give them money to buy it. It does not really have the surprise factor or the feel of a gift that purchases through the Family Library, but it does not have the disadvantages of unauthorized apps and shared payment information. This solution would be best if you want to buy an app to a friend, cousin or nephew rather than a close family member.

Since every Play Store user has a Gmail address and Play Store, Google Pay accepts as a form of payment; the easiest way to send money for an app would be to attach it to a Gmail message. To do this, prepare an email to the Google Account they use on their phone, and then tap the attach button. Select "Submit money" from here and enter your payment information when prompted if you have not already.

] Just enter how much the app costs, then add a note if you want and tap " Clear." From there you send the email.

At the end they get an email saying they've got money. The transfer is automatic, so they do not even need to read this email, but they can point to "View Transaction" to see details about the funds you sent.

Now they need to change their payment method to Google Pay when they want to purchase the app. Get them to tap "Install" on the app's Play Store page as they normally would, but then tap the app name in the popup menu to expand the payment options menu. They can then select "Payment Methods" and select "Google Pay Balance" to complete the transaction.

Method 3: Buy a Google Play Gift Card

If none of the above practices work for you, the best solution would be to purchase them a Google Play gift card. There are thousands of stores selling physical Google Play gift cards, and you can even buy one online and it will work exactly the same way. At least $ 25, so you can not only fund a single app unless it's really expensive.

If you buy an online gift card, you must only enter the Gmail address when you purchase and they will receive a code at that address. If you buy a physical card, they must scrape the painted area on the backside to reveal the code. Whatever you go, when the recipient has the code, they must open their Play Store app, go to the page navigation menu (hamburger icon at the top left), then select "Solve" and enter the code. Like method 2, when buying the app, they must change their payment method. Take them to "Install" on the paid app's Play Store page and then tap the app's name on the purchase prompt. From here, they can choose "Payment Methods" and then select "Google Play Balance" to complete the transaction.
