How to accelerate your computer

If you noticed that your computer is slow, it does not necessarily mean that you need to dump it in the trash. This guide will help your computer run closer to how it did when you started that baby for the first time.

Try these steps to improve performance and learn more about useful habits for stopping downs. And if you have a Mac, check out our tips to speed up a Mac as well.

Step 1: Update Your Computer Program

Make sure your computer's software is up to date is the easiest way to possibly speed up your computer. That said, much of your computer's software may be detrimental to third-party developers who are less religious than big name developers like Microsoft and Apple in issuing updates.

However, to search for software updates when using Windows, you can go to Settings (search for it in the search field if you do not see it in your menu), select Update and Security window, go to ] Windows Update and select Check for updates . The current version of Windows 10 usually installs important updates automatically, but it's always nice to check and make sure everything is applied.

Step 2: Delete unnecessary files

There are third-party programs that can help you remove unnecessary files (we go over this in later steps), but the easiest way is to use the built-in cleaning tool that comes with Windows 10.

  Windows Disk Cleanup

Start by going to the search bar on Windows and typing "disk cleaning", to pick up the tool Disk Cleanup for you to choose.Choose the device you want to clean and then select OK Look for The files to delete the section and check that all file types you want to delete are highlighted. The description will help you learn more about the file types. When finished, select OK again to begin the purification process.

Step 3: Clean Your Valves

Almost all the computers on the market are supplied equipped to prevent overheating and increase ventilation. Computers, however, are a bit like laundry dryers, which means that their openings will build up an undesirable excess of dust and lint over time. Clogged valves can lead to overheating of the central unit, which in turn can cause poor performance, unexpected crashes and random reboots.

The simple solution is to regularly clean the valves to reduce the risk. You can use a compressed air container, an item that is easy to get on the internet or at your local office supplier, to rinse dirt out of your openings. You can also take your computer aside to do so, but we do not personally recommend going down that road unless you have a previous computer experience.

Step 4: Defragment the hard drive

<img src = "data: image / gif; base64, R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAAP /// yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" data-dt-lazy-src = "https://icdn9.digitaltrends.com/image /ccleaner-on-macbook-lifestyle-720×720.jpg "onerror =" dti_load_error (this) "class =" size-large wp-image-1351029 dt-lazy-load dt-lazy-pending "alt =" CCleaner on Macbook Lifestyle [19659005] Saving and deleting files causes your data to flow over the hard drive into bits instead of whole bits, so, when your hard drive wants to find something, it may have to search in several places instead of one, causing the whole system to slow down. takes care of the root by organizing your data so that the hard drive can spend less time searching for it

Windows 10 makes this very easy even for new users with a built-in defragging process. Just jump to the search bar on the home screen and type in "defrag," then select the tool shown called Defragment and optimize devices . This opens a window where you can choose which devices you want to analyze or optimize, along with messages if a device looks like it needs optimization. Select the units you want and select Optimize to begin. You can also schedule future optimization.

If you have an SSD, true defragmentation can actually be worse for the device. Windows 10 will automatically avoid the defragmentation step if it detects that you have chosen an SSD to optimize.

Step 5: Maintaining and optimizing your computer with built-in and third-party software

Third-party software can help remove unnecessary files and browser stories, which will speed up your computer's boot time and prevent your system from time and energy-sucking accessories that trick you in your machine. Here are some recommendations for getting started.

  1. Antivirus program – Virus is often guilty when your system loses its mojo. Fortunately, you do not need to remove any money to get a quality program for antivirus software. BitDefender, another cloud-based application for Windows, performs even deeper scans to identify and eliminate malicious software and red flags. Take a look at other free antivirus recommendations here.
  2. Remove redundancy – Detergent registry is practical because, as you install and uninstall the software over time, your registry gets smashed with outdated and corrupted records that can provoke system errors and crashes. Solution? Use the easy-to-use Auslogics Registry Cleaner to clean up junk and fix errors. The program selects a default list of devices and objects on the computer, scans quickly and repairs problems before they become more difficult whenever you want. If it is deleted something that you later decide you would rather keep, you can even go to the rescue service under File to restore your files from a backup.

Step 6: Upgrade your system

You have tried all our tricks and even reinstalled the operating system, but are you still not satisfied? It seems like your computer is beating the boundaries. It may be time to upgrade.

Memory (RAM)

If you run heavy programs like Photoshop, or just tend to run many programs at once and notice that the system slows down when you switch from one to another, You install more RAM (RAM) to make your life easier.

To learn how much RAM you already have, visit System Information (on a Mac, click the Apple icon on the upper left corner of the screen, and then click About this computer). Then you need to find out how much more RAM the computer can handle and what type you can install. Crucial and Kingston Technology are resources to find out what kind of RAM will work for you right now.

Solid State Drives (SSD)

Switching from a regular hard disk drive to a solid state drive (SSD, sometimes called solid state disk) can make a big difference in speed and Reliability as an SSD has memory instead of moving parts, allowing data to be read much faster than reading a hard drive, which uses fast rotating discs. When you have an SSD, it doesn't matter if your file fragments are in adjacent spots or scattered loosely everywhere: they are as quick to read. SSD can also intentionally store bits of files at different locations to evenly erase. In addition to being lighter and less energy dependent, the lack of moving parts also makes the SSD shocks shock and more durable, which extends the life of the machine.

If you are going to have an SSD, you need to find out which type is compatible with your computer. Samsung, Wester Digital and Intel all have good SSD options to explore, no matter what size you are looking for. Here is our list of top SSDs to help you get started. Once you have selected your new SSD, you can add them to your system yourself using an upgrade package – without experience.

Graphics card

If you play 3D games on your computer and have noticed inertia, you might want to consider upgrading your graphics card as well. Cheap machines tend to come with integrated graphics built into the motherboard instead of a separate graphics processing unit (GPU), which has much more impressive graphics capabilities.

Even if you have a GPU, you may want a faster, depending on the game titles you would like to play. As with RAM and SSD, you first need to find out which card will work with the computer you already have, because not all cards will jive with your motherboard. Do you have a accelerated graphics port (AGP)? Most likely PCI Express (PCIe)? Is it integrated in the motherboard or is it a separate card? Examine before purchasing, especially for some video card upgrades also requiring an upgrade of your power supply.
