Echo buttons are simple Bluetooth devices that connect to an Amazon Echo. So far, they have turned into simple summer-like buttons for use in games. Recently, Amazon has added the opportunity to connect an Echo Button to a routine, opening a whole world of opportunities. A straight forward forward is like a shutdown button for when the last person leaves the house.
To create a routine for an echo button, first add that button to an echo-quick and painless process. And if you've ever created a routine with your Alexa app before, you'll be in familiar territory and create a lockdown routine for your button. Basically, this is a key that the last person leaving home can provide a quick push to turn off all your smart lights, lock the doors, shut down the thermostat, disable smart plugs or whatever else you want.
Create a Keypad
You must post the Alexa app to create a routine. On the app's main page, press the hamburger button.
In the list of settings, press "Routines."
Press the "+" button to add
Click the option "When this happens" to set a trigger for the routine.
Touch the "Echo Button" option.
When prompted, press the Echo button that you want to use with the routine. This is a necessary step because you can have more than one Echo Button parade with a single echo. After pressing the Echo button and making sure the Alexa app correctly recognizes it, press the "Add" button in the Alexa app.
Now that you have selected the button as a trigger, you can set up actions for the trigger to perform. Touch the Add Action option.
Select the smart devices you want to connect to the routine. Creating groups for your lights, locks and other smart devices will reduce the number of devices you need to add. You can even use a combination of groups and individual devices. It would allow you to do things like turning off most lights, but leaving a certain light on the veranda or in a pet's room, for example.
Once you've set up your devices, click the "Create" button.
Now press the Echo button to turn off lights, lock doors and control all other devices you specified. Simply place the Echo button somewhere convenient to push the way out of your home.
