Like in Instagram and other popular photo and video files, iMovie for iPhone lets you add filters throughout your movie project. Not only that, but you can choose to add different filters to different videos on your timeline, regardless of whether the clips started as videos or photos.
Make sure you are in a movie project before you start, as this will not work for trailer projects. Now, if you want to add a filter on the entire timeline simultaneously or just to a particular video clip you imported, the filters will be the same: B&W, Blast, Blockbuster, Blue, Camo, Dreamy, Duotone, Silent Era, Vintage or Western .
: Add a filter throughout your timeline
Once in the timeline, to add a filter for the entire project, make sure no videos are selected (highlight in yellow). If they are, tap a non-video portion of the timeline. Then click on the tooth icon at the bottom right to get to the page Project Settings .
At the top, under Project Filter you can choose between the mentioned filters. Each filter shows a small preview of what your movie would like, but only with the frame currently present in the game head location. Press "Done" when you are ready to apply it. You can return if you don't like what it looks like.
If you do not want to apply a filter to your entire movie project, you can instead use filters for individual videos in timeline.
To do so, tap the clip you want to mark it (in yellow), then select the filter icon (it looks like three overlapping circles) from the toolbar. The same filters mentioned above will be available for you to choose from, and you will also get a preview of the filter but in a much larger view. You can always change the filters or go back to no filter later if you want.
