Do you remember the days when you added sticky notes to the desktop of your Windows computer? Well, you can take back some of that magic and add sticky notes to your iPhone home screen with Sticky Widgets.

Stickers are great for quickly noting something and making sure it is easily accessible. You can bring some of the same functionality to your iPhone home screen thanks to widgets first introduced in iOS 1

The Sticky Widgets app mimics the experience of sticky notes in real life. Once you have added a widget (small, medium or large), you can tap it to edit the text. And true to its name, the Sticky Widgets app has highlighted yellow and pink backgrounds and fonts for ink.

The whole app works from the widget itself. After downloading the app, go directly to your iPhone’s home screen. Hold down an empty part of the screen to enter the edit mode on the home screen.

Then press “+” in the upper left corner.

Tap Plus from the iPhone home screen

In the list of apps, select the “Sticky Widgets” option.

Tap Sticky Widgets from the widget list

You can now preview the widget’s three different sizes (small, medium and large). Press the “Add widget” button to drop a widget on your home screen. For this example, we go with the medium size.

Tap Add widget

Now that the widget has been added, press the “Done” button to save the widget layout.

Write your note and then press the “Save” button.

When you return to your iPhone’s home screen, you will see that Sticky Widgets displays the updated note.

You can also customize the background and font of the widget. Hold down the widget and select the “Edit widget” option.

Touch Edit Widget

From the “Color” section, you can choose between yellow, pink and blue options. You can also choose between MarkerFelt (which is the default), Notable, and the system font from the “Font” option.

The yellow background and the MarkerFelt font of course provide the best combination.

And that’s all. You now have a working sticker on your home screen. Tap a widget at any time to delete and change the text displayed on the widget.

You can add more widgets, in different sizes as well. In fact, you can have several stickers and stack them on top of each other!
