There is nothing as annoying as having a song stuck in your head and not being able to identify it. Thankfully, if you can buzz the song out loud, Google Search can help you figure out which song is stuck in your head.
The Hum to Search feature is available in Google̵7;s mobile app and works with buzzing, whistling or anything else you can do to mimic a song. The results are not always accurate, but it’s a good place to start if an earworm drives you crazy.
First open the Google app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device and tap the “Microphone” icon in the search bar. On Android devices, you can also tap the “Microphone” icon from the Google Search widget on your Home screen.
When the listening screen appears, you will see the “Search for a song” button. Push it.
Start buzzing or whistling the song you are trying to identify. This tool can also identify real music being played.
If Google can find similar matches, the results are marked with a match percentage. Press “More results” if your song is not in the top result.
If Google cannot identify the song, you will see a screen that says “Cannot find match.” You can press “Retry” to enter it again.
In our testing, the function is hit or miss. Hum to Search does a great job with popular songs and distinctive melodies. Songs that are not easy to buzz songs are harder to identify.
