Your Chromecast with Google TV Remote comes with two shortcut buttons. The first opens the YouTube app of your choice and the second launches Netflix. If you want to change either shortcut, you can remap the button on your Chromecast with Google TV Remote.
Redo the YouTube button
The YouTube button on Chromecast with Google TV remote control can be reshaped to quickly open any YouTube app. The button supports the standard YouTube app, YouTube TV, YouTube Kids and YouTube Music.
To get started, press and hold the “YouTube”; button on the remote control.
From the menu that appears, select the YouTube app that you want to open with your remote control.
You will immediately return to the Google TV home screen. A message will appear in the upper right corner confirming your change.
You can press and hold the “YouTube” button on your Chromecast remote again in the future to map the shortcut to another YouTube app.

Redo the Netflix button (and others)
Unfortunately, remapping the “Netflix” button and the other buttons on the remote control is not as easy. Although there is no built-in tool to re-map these shortcuts, you can download a paid third-party app to add extra functionality to your Chromecast with the Google TV remote control.
Start by navigating to the “Apps” app and then select the “Search for apps” button.
Either use the on-screen keyboard or hold down the Google Assistant button on the Chromecast remote to search for the “Button Mapper” app. Click the “Install” button to download the app to your streaming device.
Once installed, select the “Open” button.
Alternatively, after setting up and connecting Chromecast with Google TV to your Google Account, you can install the app through the Play Store. Visit your Button Mappers Play Store list from your computer. Click the “Install” button, then select your Google Chromecast as the device you want to install it on.
When the Button Mapper app is open, you must give it permission to access availability settings and unlock the app’s pro features. The app helps you navigate to Settings> System> Accessibility> Button Folders and activate the permission. Then you pay for in-app purchases that cost $ 4.99 plus tax.
You can now re-map every button on your Chromecast with the Google TV remote control. Select the “Add button” option.
Then click “Add Buttons” and then press “Netflix” or any other button on the remote control. The button, shown below as “Button_3”, will appear in the list. Select the option.
Finally, you can set the new functionality of the button. It can launch an action (such as taking a screenshot), open another application (such as Disney +, Hulu or HBO Max) or run several other activities.
With your Chromecast with the Google TV remote control button, you can now press it to test the new functionality.
