An issue has existed since Samsung last month announced four newphones, with the high tech as a cherry on top. Who should buy these five phones? Just think: You have S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus . Then, the foldable Galaxy Fold on April 26 and some people may be tempted to wait for sometime in the summer (Q2, specifically).
In a way, Samsung's lineup is a shame for wealth. Put another, it's a confusion for buyers who want a simple choice. Is Samsung really OK with cannibalization itself?
As a professional reviewer, I am allergic to leaving final assessments before the thorough testing is complete. But now that I haveand are currently reviewing Samsung's smallest, cheapest Galaxy S10 phone, (it's ongoing), I've got a feel for who these phones are for.
I have now joined the Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy S10. And while we're still waiting to touch the Galaxy Fold – we've seen "the" behind layers of glass and in video – I've seen enough a competitor unit, to determine who a collapsible phone would appeal to.
It is a long line to say that I will try to break down who every new Samsung Galaxy phone is for, but only if you promise you do not understand the final purchase advice and my thoughts may change after reviewing all the phones. Good? Good. You will find a complete specs comparison at the bottom.
Galaxy S10 Costs : $ 900, £ 799, AU $ 1349 Screen size : 6.1 inches Competition : iPhone XS ($ 1000 on Amazon) LG G8 ThinQ, Pixel 3 ($ 749 at Walmart) OnePlus 6T, Galaxy S10E, Galaxy S10 Plus
What it is : Sandwiched between S10E and S10 Plus, this is a head scraper for me. For $ 100 more you get more. And for $ 150 less you get almost as much. So why interfere even? My best guess is that the carriers want S10 in their portfolio as a medium sized unit. I haven't reviewed S10 yet, so I can't say if it's worth the money or if you're choosing another S10 phone instead. However, it is likely that this standard S10 will see a lot of seasonal sales and offers, and if you see a good one, it probably won't go wrong to buy it. Read more about.
Who it is for : Still to determine, but probably people who use a campaign or those who greatly prefer size. When buying :.
Galaxy S10 5G
Cost : TBA, but pricier than Galaxy S10 Plus, and will require a 5G service plan
Screen Size : 6.7 inches
Contest : Each Galaxy S10 Plus
What it is : Samsung's first 5G effort, which theoretically is ready to go when 5G networks come online. It is the largest of all Galaxy S10 phones, with four cameras on the back and two on the front, including a 3D sensor for each side. This is the only S10 that will be able to shoot portrait video (the embedded video shows it in action). I went hands-on with the Galaxy S10 5G here .
Who it is for : Early 5G adopters. Interested buyers should be aware of this development
When buying the : Summer in the United States
Cost : $ 1,980 for the 4G model; TBA for the 5G version
Screen size : 6.7 inches
Contest : Huawei Mate X, (including ?]
What it is : A collapsible phone that opens in a tablet, with a 4.6-inch outer screen, a 7.3-inch screen and six cameras. Run on Android 9 Pie, the idea is that you put it out for more details. Multitasking comprises up to three live screen areas at a time. I called itI've seen "this year".
Who it is for : Samsung describes Galaxy Fold as a "luxury device". I will add that it is a status purchase for those who have money to burn.
When buying the : It goes on sale on April 26.
