How to clear Discord cache files on Android

Just like on Windows and Mac computers, the Android version of the Discord app saves certain files (such as photos and videos) as cache files.

You can clear these by clearing the Discords cache from the Android settings menu. The steps vary depending on your device and Android version – the following works specifically for Android 10 or later.

First swipe down once (or twice) from the top and tap the gear icon to jump into the device’s “Settings” menu and then tap “Apps”.

Tap

Scroll down to “Discord” or type it in the search field at the top and then tap it to continue.

Tap

In the “Discord” menu, you see how much storage space the app currently uses. Press “Storage” to access more options.

In the Disc Info menu for Discord, tap the Storage option.

In the “Storage” menu, you can clear all app information or simply clear all saved cache files; press “Clear cache” to do it later.

Tap

This instantly deletes redundant cache files for the Discord app on your Android device. You can do this regularly to minimize the amount of data saved by the app.

To clear Discord cache files on an iPhone or iPad

Unfortunately, there is no built-in method for deleting cache files on an iPhone or iPad. You will need to uninstall the Discord app to delete any cache files that may have been saved and then reinstall it from the App Store.

To do this, tap Settings> General> Storage on iPhone (or iPad), then scroll down and tap “Discord”.

Tap

Then tap “Delete app” and then tap it again on the following screen to confirm.

Tap

Alternatively, you can long press the Discord icon on the home screen and then tap “Delete app” to delete Discord.

Tap

Once the app has been removed, locate it in the App Store and then install it again. You must log in again to your Discord account to use the app again.
