How to edit PDFs in Microsoft Word



Editing in PDFs in Microsoft Word has become much easier since Microsoft built more functionality, starting with Word 2016. Its cousin Edge browser also has impressive PDF features.

While you can't beat a full-fledged PDF editor for complex work, Word now has the ability to open and edit PDF files (but with some formatting hiccups). This is how it works.

Importing, exporting, and editing PDFs in Microsoft Word

1. Open Word 2016. Select File> Open then browse to the folder containing your PDF files. Select a file and click the Open button. Note that the selected file is displayed in the View window to the right. In this example, select a file with text and graphics.

The real advantage for everyone else is the convenience of copying data from one document to another that previously originated in incompatible file formats. PDF files are smaller, easier to email and much more efficient for printing, because the format is portable.
