How to enable or disable syncing in Chrome

Google Chrome lets you sync your Google Account to your browser across all devices. When enabled, bookmarks, history, passwords, extensions, and themes – among many other settings – are created from your Google Account, providing a seamless experience, no matter where you are.

How to enable sync

To get started syncing to your Google Account, look up Chrome and click the profile menu icon at the top right of your browser, then click "Turn on sync."

You will be redirected to a Google Chrome login screen, where you will need to enter your Google email or phone number associated with Google and click "Next."

If you previously signed in to another Google Account through your browser, you may encounter this message and ask yourself what would you like to do. "This was not me", creating a new profile for Chrome, while "This was me," merges everything from the previous account to the profile of the current account. Select an option and then click "Continue".

Next, you were greeted with a quick query to enable synchronization. Click "Yes, I'm in" to enable Chrome sync.

If you see this error next to your profile picture, do not worry. It probably means that at one point you set up encryption for your Google account and just need to enter the passphrase.

  If your profile shows an error, don't worry. You just need to complete one more step.

On the new tab that opens, enter your password phrase click "Submit".

Now all are synchronized and you can use Chrome from anywhere on any device.

How to Turn Off Synchronization

If you don't care much about synchronizing your browser across multiple devices, so syncing is as easy to do as turning on.

Turn on Chrome and click on your profile picture and then click "Sync to" or type chrome: // settings / people in the Omnibox and press.

If you sync, you prevent everything you do when using Chrome from saving to your profile. Bookmarks, history, passwords and more will no longer be synchronized or accessed.

Click "Shut Down".

 Click Cancel to confirm that you want to disable synchronization with this device

To clear bookmarks, history, passwords, and more from the device you are using, select the check box provided.

That's all that happens. After clicking "Disable", Chrome is no longer enabled, and you will not be able to access any of the features previously offered by synchronization.
