Although social media is commonly used to build communities, you may sometimes want to share something on Twitter without getting a response. Thankfully, you can choose who will respond to your tweets using the Twitter iPhone, iPad and Android apps and Twitter̵7;s desktop website.
Choose who can respond to tweets on iPhone, iPad and Android
By default, Twitter allows anyone to reply to your tweets (if your account is public) or just your followers (if your account is private). The option to restrict who can reply is set on a per-tweet basis while writing a message.
To get started, open the Twitter app on your iPhone, iPad or Android.
Then click on the Compose Tweet button located in the lower right corner of the app.
You can either print a tweet now or wait until later. Anyway, select the “Everyone can reply” link to adjust who can reply to this tweet.
Select the option “People you follow” or “Only people you mention”. The first will limit the responses to all your Twitter account followers, and the second will keep responses limited to all you “@” mention in your tweet.
If you do not mention anyone in your tweet and you select the “Only people you mention” option, no one will be able to reply to your message (other than yourself).
Write a message that you want to share on Twitter if you have not already done so, then click the “Tweet” button.
And that’s it – your tweet has been shared and responses will be limited to who you choose. You can choose any tweet and see who gets to reply.
Unfortunately, Twitter does not allow you to change who can reply to a tweet after that. When you press the “Tweet” button, your selection will be set in stone.

Choose who can respond to tweets on the web
The process of restricting responses to your tweets using the Twitter site is almost identical to tweeting from a mobile app.
Start by visiting Twitter’s desktop website on your computer with the browser you choose. Click on the home page by clicking in the writing box at the top of the windows.
You can also select the blue “Tweet” button located in the left pane if you do not see the composite pane.
Then print a message you want to tweet and then click on the “Everyone can reply” link.
Select the “People you follow” option or the “Only people you mention” option, depending on what best suits your needs.
All you have to do is click on the “Tweet” button. Your tweet will now be shared with all your followers.
As mentioned earlier, you can not change who can reply to your tweet after that. You must delete the message and share it again to make changes.
