How to look at the democratic national convention

The Democratic National Convention will formally nominate the Democratic candidate for the 2020 presidential election, with former Vice President Joe Biden scheduled to speak on the last day of the conference.

But this convention is likely to look very different from most other years, as the coronavirus pandemic has forced the Democratic Party to hold its event – usually a tough deal with hundreds of delegates – largely practical.

Biden’s running buddy, late. Kamela Harris (D-California), will also accept her Vice President for nomination.

Here’s what you need to know about the Democratic National Convention, including how to watch a livestream at the online conference.

How to look at the democratic convention

The convention will be streamed live on DNC’s official website. You can also watch the conference on NBC, ABC and CBS, and DNC’s social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Twitch and YouTube. We have also embedded a livestream from the conference at the top of this post.

Where does the democratic convention stand?

While the conference will mostly take place virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will be officially held at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee.

Who is speaking at the conference?

During the four-day conference, a number of key Democrats will speak at Congress. Some notable names include First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Barack Obama, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, former President Bill Clinton, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and more. You will find the official list of speakers and the schedule here.

Why should I care about the democratic convention?

Although we know that Biden will be the Democratic presidential candidate, the Democratic National Convention brings together Democrats from across the country to talk to his party and potential voters about the issues at hand in the upcoming election. The Convention is also when the members of the Democratic Party adopt the official platform of the Democratic Party 2020.
