How to make all apps work with OnePlus’ parallel apps feature «OnePlus :: Gadget Hacks

OnePlus offers a lot of features that you do not get with any other Android phones. Parallel apps are one of those great extras that you did not know you might like until you have tried them. It allows you to clone compatible apps installed on your device, which means you can use the same app with two different accounts, for example.

However, since the OnePlus Parallel Apps feature only works with a select few supported apps, it may seem very limited. Fortunately, there is an Xposed module by developer Alex193a called the OnePlus PA Extender to make it more useful for power users. The module extends the features of the Parallel Apps feature to include all your “unsupported”

; apps.

Requirement

Step 1: Install EdXposed (Xposed Framework)

Because the original version of Xposed is no longer supported on newer versions of Android, you will need to install EdXposed to make this module work. The two required modules are downloaded and installed first via Magic, which gives you access to the Xposed Framework after that.

Open Magic Manager and go to the “Downloads” section of the app, then install the “Riru-Core” and “Riru-EdXposed (SandHook)” modules. There are two versions of EdXposed to choose from, so if SandHook does not work well for you, uninstall it and try the YAHFA version instead. If you need a little extra help with this part, you can find the complete guide below.

Step 2: Install the OnePlus PA Extender Module

Once the Xposed Framework is installed and working properly, it’s time to install the module for your OnePlus to make Parallel Apps even better. Open the EdXposed Manager app, tap the menu on the left, then go to the “Download” section. From there, use the search bar to find the OnePlus PA Extender.

Tap the module entry once to go to the “Download” screen, go to the “Versions” tab at the top and then press the “Download and Install” button for the latest version. Click “Install”, and the module will be installed on your device and then press “Done” to end the process.

Now click on “Activate and restart” from the message that appears, and it will automatically activate the module and restart the device for you.

Step 3: Add the apps you want to clone

After rebooting, check your app for a newly installed app called “OnePlus PA Extender” and open it to continue. The app is used to select which apps you want to clone with the Parallel Apps feature on your OnePlus device. From here, go through your list of installed apps and turn the switch to the right to add each one to the Parallel Apps menu screen.

Step 4: Activate your new apps to clone them

Now you need to activate your apps using the Parallel Apps feature found in the system settings. Go to Settings -> Tools -> Parallel Apps. You should mark all the apps you selected in the previous step under the “Supported Apps” section. Turn the switch for each of your apps to activate the cloned versions and then return to the applause.

You will see two versions of your apps right now with the clones marked with an orange Parallel Apps icon. There is no difference in the cloned versions of these apps, except that they can technically be treated as their own device. Want to play a game with more than one account? Sure why not. You can now clone all your apps and use them for whatever purpose you choose!

end Notes

Even if you uninstall the OnePlus PA Extender module, the cloned apps will remain on your device. This is because it made the necessary system changes earlier and cloned the apps via the built-in Parallel Apps feature.

To uninstall any of the apps that you cloned, go back to the Parallel Apps main screen, and then disable each app one at a time. It lets you know that the data of the cloned app will be lost when you press “OK”, which then deletes them from your device.

The latest beta update for this Xposed module also allows you to clone system apps. Just click on the icon that looks like an eye from the OnePlus PA Extender app. Then the system apps are mixed together with your user-installed apps. Cloning of system apps can provide space for interesting uses in the future.
