My brother and I talk about Ohio-based sports teams and make more than our respective children. And we love our own children and our niches and grandson!
When we do not commiserate about Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Reds, we change recipes. (Perhaps eating helps to alleviate the pain of our fateful fandoms.)
Last year, my brother shared a recipe that changed my planning for Thanksgiving. Well, that was more of a concept than a recipe. And this concept takes cover, puts it in a waffle iron and creates the biggest leftover Thanksgiving treatment I've ever had.
Having discovered that fillers exist, I will now double how much fill I make for my Thanksgiving party so I have enough fillings left for lunches the rest of the weekend.
What is a filling wafer?
A filling wafer is exactly what it sounds like ̵1; a waffle made of filling. This revolutionary thought allows you to take overblow out of the refrigerator and quickly heat it up, replacing the rubber with a microwave oven with a waffle cream.
Sounds great. How do I make fillets?
I speak of experience when I say filling waffles are amazing. And easy. In addition to a lot of leftovers, you only need two things:
- A waffle iron
- One egg or two
Put your remaining filling into a mixing bowl. To help tie the cold, dry fill you've just removed from your fridge, hit an egg or two, then put the egg into the filling and mix. If your filling is very dry, you can also add some chicken broth, but I skip this step and just use a pair of eggs.
Add a doll of your reconstituted filling to your waffle iron and within a few minutes, I'm touching hot crispy filling waffles.
Sounds easy. What do I eat with fillets?
Filling waffles are lightweight. If you can use a waffle iron you can make filling waffles. There is no rule to eat filling waffles in itself – maybe with a little sauce instead of a breakfast waffle syrup dump – but there are two main ways to make a full lunch with your filling waffles.
- Heat up some of your remaining mashed potatoes, add a scoop on top of your fillet wrap and cover with sauce. Add some turkey and cranberry sauce if you are so touched.
- Skip the white bread and use two filling waffles for your remaining turkey sandwich. A waffle iron that makes stiff waffles is preferred for triangular or circular waffles for this attempt.
