Opening ZIP files is something people associate with computers, but it can also be done on a phone or tablet. If you download a compressed file to your Android device, extracting the content is not that difficult. We̵7;ll show you how.
Every Android phone has a file management app, but they are usually barebones and cannot open ZIP files. Thankfully, there are a number of apps in the Google Play Store that can do this for free.
One app we like is “Files by Google.” Not only is this a great app for compressing ZIP files, but it is also a great all-round file manager that can also be used to free up space on your smartphone.

First, download Google files from the Google Play Store on your Android device. Then open the app and locate the ZIP file you want to open. If you downloaded the compressed file, look for a “Downloads” folder.
From there, select the file to display the Extract dialog box. Press the “Extract” button to open the file.
You will see a progress bar and then the dialog will tell you that the file has been unpacked. Press “Done” to exit. If you want to discard the ZIP file, you can select the “Delete ZIP file” box while the pop-up menu closes.
That’s all! The extracted content from the ZIP file will be placed in the same folder location as the ZIP file itself.
