Once upon a time when smartphones were actually remembered where you parked your vehicle. This really sucks when you visit a place with a large parking lot – they even made a whole Seinfeld episode about it. But now you can just press a button to solve this problem. Who says we are not living in the future?
Google already offers something like this through their Google assistant and maps, but automatic parking detection can be hit or miss. OnePlus, on the other hand, now lets you save your parking space directly to your home screen.
The parking feature from the home screen is still tested on the OnePlus device. Once properly set to your device, you can swipe and then press to save the location. launcher, so it hasn't rolled out to anyone as a stable release on the Play Store yet.
This means you have two options: Check either the Play Store and hope for an update to the OnePlus Launcher app (you need version 3.3.2 or higher), or simply page load APK. The APK version is the same app you would get from the Play Store, so you keep getting updates and there will be no error installing it.
To use the APK method, make sure that "Install other apps" allowed for your browser, then tap the link below from your phone. Download the latest version and then press the "Download Full" message to start the APK installation file. From there, tap "Install" and you will be completely set.
Step 2: Activate Parking Location
Now that you use the latest OnePlus Launcher, you can start using the parking space feature. Jump to the main page and turn right to open the Shelf page, which is full of many useful shortcuts and functions. When you open the shelf page, you will be greeted with a "parking lot" message that wants you to know why it needs these specific permissions.
Proceed and press "Accept" to enable the feature, and it should be at the bottom of the shelf by default. Scroll down to the "Parking lot" section, and you will see two buttons labeled "Take picture" and "Select place."
If you decided to take a picture, you would be asked to give OnePlus Launcher access to take pictures and record video. Press "Allow" and then you can use this feature to get a visual image of the location while saving the GPS coordinates. An extra visual to accompany your saved coordinates is a welcome addition for all situations.
When Selecting your location for the first time, you are prompted to give OnePlus Launcher access to the device's location. Press "Allow" and then you can use the selection location option to save only the GPS coordinates.
Both of you can use the "Navigate" option afterwards, starting Google Maps to help you find your way back to the site. Once you have made it back and no longer need the saved location, click the "Finish" option and then end "Finish" again to end the session.
If you have this integrated right into your home screen with a sweep and crane, it's worth your time if you're always looking for where you parked – no more lost!
