How to share your Wi-Fi password with a QR code on Android 10 «Android :: Gadget Hacks

If your phone has Android 10, you can now share your Wi-Fi network with friends using a handy QR code. The other person does not have to run Android 10 – in fact, you can also share this code with iPhone users. In most cases, this is the fastest way to share your Wi-Fi password.

Step 1: Download the QR code

On your Android 10 phone, start by opening the Settings app and going to "Network and Internet." Then click on the word "Wi-Fi" – the text itself, not the AC switch next to it.

Now choose your current Wi -Fi network from the list (this only works for your current network) and then the "Share" button with an icon that looks like a QR code. You will be asked to scan your fingerprint or enter your PIN, so do it – and the QR code will be revealed.

Step 2: Share your Wi-Fi password in seconds

Now your friend just needs to scan this QR code to connect to your Wi-Fi. If the person uses an iPhone or Pixel, they can only open their camera app and the phone automatically recognizes the QR code as soon as it is in sight. Just get them to tap the popup and they will be connected in seconds.

If your friend uses another Android phone, they probably do not have a built-in QR scan feature in the camera app. So they need a third party QR scanner – we recommend QR code reader and scanner by Kaspersky Lab. Let them install that app, then open it and just point the camera on the screen. Within a second, the QR code will be identified and they can simply press "Connect" to connect to your network.

(1) Scans QR code on a phone like Pixel or iPhone that has QR scanning built into the camera's app. (2) Scans the QR code with the Kaspersky Lab app.
