How to trim individual video files in your Freeform Adobe Premiere Clip Project «Smartphones :: Gadget Hacks

If you've just started a free editing project in Adobe Premiere Clip on Android or iPhone, what's next? The first thing you want to do is trim down the video clips you imported into your draft so that you can perfect them in your timeline and create the best video possible.

Fortunately, Adobe Premier Clip trimming a video is a simple task, and it's the same process whether you're using the iOS or Android version. Just make sure you have started a freeform project, imported your photos and videos, and relocated your media to the project in the order you want before checking the instructions below.

Trimming a clip in Adobe Premiere Clip

Once you have a project with the clips you want to see in your video, it's time to trim. Chances are that most clips in your project must be trimmed down slightly. There are probably parts of each one that you want left out of your last video, which your dad sneezes before opening his Christmas present or when you released the camera before Kimmy made that goal (she will never forgive yourself for misses that goal). To start trimming:

  1. Select a clip to trim by pressing it.
  2. You will see a long gray bar under the video player. You can either press the play button above the video to watch the video or use the white vertical slider in the gray bar to scrub through the video.
  3. Once you find the location in the clip you want to start with, drag the left purple slider to that point. This will eliminate anything before the purple slider. This is your "i" point. You can still slip back more if needed ̵
1; it won't erase anything before it.
  4. Similarly, when you find a point where you want the clip to end, pull the small slider to that point. This is your "out" point.

When you have an in and out selected set, you can drag the video player yourself with two fingers, which will move the parameters specified by your in and out points to different points in the clip. For example, if you have the first five seconds of the clip as your set parameters, the parameters will move so selected five seconds in the clip. This is useful if you need to cut the clip to a certain length, but are not sure where to do it.

Set and exit points (left) and draw new parameters (right).

It is not necessary to save your trim – Premiere Clip will remember what in and out points you have Enter for each video or image. Once you have saved or shared the video clip, your trim will follow.

Talk about who! When you have trimmed all the clips in your project at your own discretion, you will probably want to save or share your video. Make sure you check out our full guide to see how everything is done.
