How to Unlock Hidden Developer Options on Your Samsung Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra «Android :: Gadget Hacks

Even if you are new to Android phones, it is likely that you have heard about the power of Android customization, and this also applies to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series. Your all-new Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra’s operating system can be modified beyond what is available in the basic settings app – and it all starts with the hidden “Developer Options” menu.

Why you should unlock developer tools

For power users, unlocking “developer options” is one of the first things to check out when installing a new Android phone. Hidden by default opens the secret menu of tools generally reserved for developers, such as removing bloatware apps, speeding up animations, and using ADB commands. All users can take advantage of these, and most of the customizations can be switched with simple switches.

If rooting becomes available on the Snapdragon variant of Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra, locking “Developer Options”

; would be step one to do so.

However, there is a reason why the menu is hidden by default. Making menu changes can make your device buggy and can cause other problems. When making changes, make them one at a time to quickly help find the culprit if problems arise.

Make developer options visible in your settings

To deselect “Developer Options”, open the Settings app. Then go to the “Program Information” section in “About Phone”. Finally, find the “Build number” and press it seven times in quick succession. When you do it correctly, a toast message is displayed between the taps and lets you know how close you are to becoming a “developer”.

On the seventh tap, you will be asked for your PIN code, gesture or password for the lock screen if you have a set. Enter this information and you will be greeted by a new toast message: “Developer mode has been activated.” You will then find the new menu “Developer Options” unstuck at the bottom of the settings app home page, just below “About Phone.”

If you ever want to hide the secret menu again, navigate to it in Settings and then turn off “Developer Options” at the top. You will still be on the menu after disabling it, but most of the settings you changed in it will return to normal, and “Developer Options” will no longer appear in Settings until you repeat the unlock process.
