With Facebook’s data transfer tool, you can upload your photos and videos to Dropbox and Koofr without having to manually download each album and upload them again. If you’ve used the tool to move photos to Google Photos, you’re home.
From your computer, visit the Facebook website and log in to your account. Click the drop-down arrow in the upper right corner and then select “Settings and Privacy”;.
Click the “Settings” button in the Settings and Privacy menu.
Select the “Your Facebook Information” tab in the left pane, then click the “View” button next to the “Upload a copy of your photos or videos” list.
You must first specify the destination of the data transfer. You have three options: Google Photos, Dropbox and Koofr. Select the desired cloud service from the “Select destination” drop-down menu.
Unfortunately, Facebook only lets you send either your photos or videos at a time. If you want to migrate your entire media library from Facebook, you need to perform this transfer twice.
At the time of writing, you can not manually select which photos, especially if you want to move. Facebook will copy and transfer everything uploaded to your account. Click “Next” once you have decided what you want to export first.
On the next screen, Facebook will ask you to log in to your cloud storage account.
Authenticate yourself, click “Allow” and give Facebook permission to add photos and videos to your library.
When you return to Facebook, click on the “Confirm transfer” button to start the transfer process.
The tool runs in the background so you can close the tab if you want. To check its progress, just visit the transfer tool page and the “Activity” section shows the transfer status. The social network will send you a message when it is ready.
Facebook uploads your photos and videos in the same album structure as they are available in your profile. Therefore, you will find a new folder called “Photo Transfer” which contains subfolders such as profile pictures, cover pictures and so on.
On your smartphone or tablet, the steps remain largely the same. Start by launching the Facebook app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.
Open the “Settings” menu by tapping the three-line icon in the lower right corner.
Scroll down and select the “Settings” option under “Settings and privacy”.
Then click “Upload a copy of your photos or videos” in the “Your Facebook Information” section.
From there, enter your Facebook password and press “Continue”.
Select your destination and to upload your photos or videos, then tap “Next”.
Enter your cloud storage account credentials to log in and give Facebook permission to add data to your library. Back in the Facebook app, select “Confirm transfer” to start the process.
Your transfer is running in the background. Facebook notifies you when your photos and / or videos have been moved.
If you want to quit Facebook, you may also want to archive the rest of your data with the download tool.
