Blue light from any device can interfere with your circadian rhythm, which research suggests can lead to any problems related to fatigue. One of the best ways to get around is to use a blue light filter to change color palette on your monitor. Some of the best monitors have their own blue light filters embedded in them, but there are also many software solutions.
Windows 10 and MacOS have their own blue light filters and there are a number of third party applications that you can also use.

What is the problem with blue light?
The reason why blue light hurts is purely biological. Sleep is part of the circadian rhythm, the cycle of biological processes, which is partly determined by the amount of light and darkness that our bodies are exposed to. In the most natural environment, which is one where we only exposed to sunlight, our retina feels when the sun sets and the environment is getting darker. It induces our hypothalamus to tell the body to produce melatonin and other sleep hormones and to reduce body temperature.
When we use artificial lighting to extend our day, our bodies become confused and the different sleep signals are disturbed. Even worse, the blue light emitted by fluorescent and LED lights – as in our different displays – and it actually makes us more aware and produce even less melatonin.
Therefore, it is important to use a filter.
Microsoft added a blue light limitation feature to Windows 10 in Creators Update released in April 2017. Called "Night Light", this feature changes the Windows 10 screen to show warmer colors that reduce the amount of blue light that is released.
Enabling the Night Light feature is a simple process.
Step 1: Open the setup menu by searching for it in the Windows search box, or press the Windows key and "X" and then click "Settings."
Step 2: Select "System" from the menu.
Step 3: Select "Display" from the left menu if it is not already
Step 4: Switch "Nightlight" on.
To set the schedule, switch the "Nightlight Schedule" option on. Then you can either choose to let the nightlight sit at sunset and off at the sunrise – automatically determined by your location – or you can manually set the time by clicking "Set hours" and choose when to turn the function on and off.
When you first turn on the feature, you notice immediately change color. After a while, your eyes will adapt to the change and it should be less intrusive. By reducing the amount of blue light, however, the nightlight function will limit the effect of using your Windows 10 computer late in the evening – you can sleep better and sleep more deeply.

On the setup page you can configure when the Night Shift function is running automatically, turn on until next day sunrise and set the color temperature to your requirements. Regarding scheduling, you can let MacOS turn on and off at sunset and sunrise based on your location, or you can set a custom schedule.
