How to use Excel's Split Screen Function

Cutting screens, vertical or horizontal, are a great way to streamline your workflow when using Excel. With this feature, you can simultaneously view separate parts of a spreadsheet so you can quickly compare data. How to use.

Using the Split Screen Function

If you have a spreadsheet filled with data, navigation can be quite cumbersome, especially if you want to compare data from multiple parts of the spreadsheet. Taking advantage of Excel's shared screen functionality can streamline this process. In Excel, you can also customize how the screen is shared, giving you complete control for your specific needs.

Finding split screen function is easy enough. Just go over to the "View" tab and click on the "Split" option.

It is said that there are some ways to use this feature to split the screen.

Create four equal quadrants

Excel lets you split the screen into four equal quadrants. This gives you four copies of your current worksheet, all on the same screen! To do this, first make sure you have the selected A1 cell.

Next, go back to the "View" tab and click the "Split" button.

You can also fine-tune where the division is by clicking and dragging each side of one of the spreadsheets or middle part.

Vertical and horizontal splits

If you do not need four copies of the spreadsheet, you can divide the screen into two instead. You can split the screen horizontally or vertically, depending on what you need.

To split the screen horizontally, select a cell from column A in any row (except for the A1 cell). Then click on the "Split" button on the "View" tab. The split will be shown above the selected line. For example, if we select cell A5, the splitting looks like this:

Splitting the screen vertically is just as easy. Select a cell from any column (except column A) in row 1 and click the "Split" button.

You do not have to follow these rules exactly. If you choose any cell from any row, the worksheet is shared. The only thing you need to remember is that if you do not select a cell from the first row or from column A, the screen will be divided into four instead of two.
