Your iPad may not be as skilled as a full-blown computer, but it's not slouch either. Just as you can juggle multiple programs on your computer, you can do the same with several apps on your iPad.
By tapping into the tablet's multitasking features, you can view and work with two to three apps on the screen at the same time, allowing you to drag and drop text, images, links and even files from one app to another .
Your iPad offers two different multitasking modes: Slide over and split view. With Slide Over you can view two apps on the screen with an app in a narrow box that floats on top of each other. With Split View you can view two apps on the screen in their own large panels. You can then add a third app located in the floating box.
Slide Over and Split View support varies by device. IPad Pro, iPad mini 4 and older, and 9.7-inch iPad support both modes. IPad Air and older iPad minis support Slide Over but not Split View.
