Hybrid smartwatches have become quite popular for those who want their daily activity tracked, but may not be interested in having all functions on the wrist. Fossil hybrid smartwatches are some of the best you can buy, and there is a Fossil smartwatch app available – called Fossil Hybrid Smartwatches – so you don't have to rely on adjusting settings from your watch.
What is the Fossil smartwatch app?
The Fossil Hybrid Smartwatches app is the smartphone app for everyone and all Fossil hybrid smartwatches. This is the app you want to download right after you remove your new Fossil hybrid watch from the box. It allows you to control your daily activity and sleep, adjust notifications, set alarms and change shortcuts on the clock.
However, make sure you download the correct app. There is also an app in the Play Store called Fossil Q Legacy, which is simply an older application used for older fossil products such as fitness trackers.
You can download the Fossil Hybrid Smartwatches app for Android and iOS at the links below. Which devices are compatible with the Fossil smartwatch app?
All hybrid smart watches for Fossil is compatible with the app Hybrid Smartwatches. (No surprise there.) The full-fledged Fossil smartwatches that carry the Wear OS, including the Fossil Gen 5 series, do not work with this app. The complete list of compatible watches can be found below:
How to use the Fossil smartwatch app
There are four main sections in the Fossil smartwatch app, and each one is pretty simple. The first page is the website, where you see your activity statistics. A set of Apple Watch-like activity rings can be found at the top of this page, which shows your steps, active minutes, calorie burn, and sleep.
Below you will find individual pages for each of these metrics, where you can see more detailed statistics broken down into daily, weekly and monthly timeframes.
You can customize your Hybrid HR complications for the watch by navigating to the Customization tab. (By the way, I only have one Fossil Hybrid HR with me, so your customization options may vary depending on your watch.)
Fossil contains a handful of preset complication settings for travel and fitness, but I would recommend just setting the complications as you wants. There are only four of them. Just click on the complication you want to change and select from the list that appears at the bottom of the screen. The complete list of complications includes your heart rate, date, risk of rain, other time zones, calories, battery, weather, steps and active minutes.
Touch the small pencil icon on the clock face to change the background design of the clock face. There are some preset options here, or you can add your own photo to add a little more personality to your watch. If you go this route, I recommend that you use a photo that you don't mind being distorted. The e-ink screen is quite low, so that all photos of people or pets are hidden. In addition, the complications get in the way.
You can also customize the physical shortcuts on this page. Press the shortcut you want to change again and then select from the shortcut list at the bottom. Available shortcuts include: exercise mode, wellness dashboard, music control, stopwatch, previous announcements, timer, weather and commute time.
Oh! This is important. When you're done, be sure to press the black checkmark button in the top right corner of the screen after making your changes.

You can set alarms, manage smartphone alerts and move alerts from the Alerts page. If you click on the alarm box, you can make a note of that alarm, set it to repeat and set the time. In the Calls and Messages section, you can choose who you receive calls from in the wrist.
Click the Apps section to select which apps will notify you. All apps are turned off by default, but you can enable notifications for virtually all apps that you have installed on your smartphone.
The Profile tab is a type of capture for all other settings. Here you can edit your profile photo, height and weight. You can view your activity and sleep records, set step goals, manage connected apps and update the software for your connected watch.
It's really not that simple – the Fossil smartwatch app is relatively bare-legged compared to some other smartwatch companion apps.
